Without getting into the apparent vintage of the components...

Top-mounted, non-modular PSU, missing PCIe backplates, too many optical drives that don't match the colour scheme, little to no cable management.
>>
>>51312625
>>51313114
Or AGP/PCI backplates, whatever.
>>
>>51313114
>top mounted case
It came from a 2004-2005 system. (which weird enough it had a Socket A motherboard) I upgraded most of the stuff ever since I got it.
>non modular PSU
That's so retarded it's actually ridiculous, considering what it powers.
>too many optical drives
Because muh storage. (even though I have a 80GB HDD in there)
>little to no cable management.
Cables are too short.

Also, the backplates were already missing ever since I've got the case. There used to be an generic RTL8139 NIC and a CMI8738-based PCI audio card. As for the original GPU it had - an 128MB Palit FX5200 which was flashed with a MSI BIOS to allow TV output.
>>
>>51313258
You asked why I gave you a 4/10, no need to justify it, I'm just looking at the system from a primarily aesthetic viewpoint which is what this should all be about.

And no adding liquid loops and LEDs to everything doesn't make me give something a 10/10.

>>
>>51318402
*Howls*
>>
>>51322147
Is that really it? Does cache size affect nothing?
Someone told me it's better to get, for example, two 2TB drives and RAID them rather than getting one 4TB drive.
Am I just overthinking this whole process?
>>
>>51322063
I bought mine because of case and RAM height limitations. I like being able to easily control fan speed from Corsair Link, even if the software is a piece of shit. I know it's a meme that doesn't offer better performance over a proper air cooler but the fan control is less shitty than other solutions.
I am interested in EKWB's new CLC cooler. It seems to offer great performance, even if it's huge and expensive.
>>
>>51322419
It doesn't affect it enough to matter, no. If you're looking for the fastest drive you can get, you're not going to be looking at spinning platters anyways. A pair of 2TB drives in RAID 0 would match the space of a single 4TB drive and blow it away in performance, but that comes with it's own drawbacks. The most apparent one is that it'll be more expensive. Less obvious is the fact that if a single drive in a RAID 0 array fails, the data on the entire array has been lost. Because you're now depending on two drives not to fail, the projected failure rate of your array is roughly twice as high as that of a single drive. And on top of that, it still won't be as fast as a good SSD.
>>
>>51322477
>EKWB's new CLC cooler
Do it, but try to get the 360mm Predator for the quick disconnect hose. The kit is amazing and is a pretty good first step into building your own loop.
>>
>>51322477
You know what's a better solution for fan control than Corsair Link? Plugging the fans into your motherboard's CPU Fan headers. Most boards have two now, and all of the good ones have a fan control program that is at the very least passable.
Also, EKWB doesn't make a CLC. That stands for Closed Loop Cooler. The Predator is a preassembled, prefilled system made with standard, off the shelf water cooling components that allows you to disassemble, modify, and expand the system as needed or desired.
>>
>>51322550
Yeah, I know about SpeedFan and FanXpert, never tried the former, tried the latter and thought it was shit. Most of ASUS' software I've tried has been awful.
>CLC cooler
>close loop cooler cooler
fuck, I see what I did there. I need some sleep.
That's pretty cool that EKWB's cooler isn't closed, but I'm not planning on buying a new cooler until my H100i craps out, and when I do, it'll be a Noctua tower.
I'd be happier with it if Corsair would open source Corsair Link or their drivers. I remember they mentioned doing something like that for their RGB products but never followed it.

what mobo do you have?

my rig here >>51312811 is controlled with bios level fanxpert/qfan. it's got 8 fans total and they automatically spin up individually based on cpu temp without relying on any os level software.

i agree it's fucking shit to use because sometimes it doesn't detect the fans during tuning but after it's done tuning it works amazingly, works much better than any dedicated fan controller.

I'm going to be honest, I haven't used it in about a year so I don't remember much specifically other than that it wasn't easy to do what I wanted to with my fans. It's probably better than I give it credit.
>>51322817
My rig >>51320073
I don't use bios fan control because I change fan speed depending on what I'm doing. If I'm at the desktop it's quiet mode, playing a more demanding game I bump it up. Some games, like Source games, are easy enough to run I can leave it on quiet and my CPU temp isn't really affected. I'm a little more sensitive to fan noise since I use open headphones and don't want to hear fans in the background. Corsair Link is just the easiest way I've found to do this with my configuration.
