Google has been revealed by Julian Assange to be deeply connected to the US government

So how we do get out of their power?

The main things I guess most people use are Gmail, search and Android

For Gmail I guess there are no email hosts as good as Google so it's a choice of weaker alternatives, so I'm thinking either just use Mailvelope with Gmail or Outlook or maybe something like Protonmail when they atop getting DDOSd

Search I guess either Bing or DDG or disconnect or startpage (why did tor stop using startpage)

So what mobile OS do we switch to to get away from Android?

The current contenders seem to be Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS and Sailfish. For some reason none have a Nexus 6 version which is not cool.

yandex looks good, it supports drag and drop, and displays all results on a single page instaed of multiple like google does

i can't decide if that picture is some sort of cartoon girl, or a picture of a dinosaur with its mouth open, and its wearing some sort of 80's styled eyewear

One of the people at Yandex is actually a client of mine.

Is Android without Gapps safe from normal data mining?
>>
>>51309957
I use zoho for email and duckduckgo ssl for searches. Alternative to Android ?
>>
>>51309957
>Bing
Microsoft stores your data and uses it for personalized ads
>DDG
Same stuff. Even though they claim they don't track you, they do.
>Disconnect, Startpage
Proxies for Google are better than using Google directly, but it could still be risky.

>Ubuntu Touch
>Firefox OS
Both are developed by companies that happily share your data with third-party companies. Wouldn't expect them to keep my data safe.
>Sailfish
Very strong contender for privacy. Needs better support for more hardware though.

Other alternative I can think of is BlackBerryOS, but then again even BlackBerry is moving away from that.

Yes, Google Services Framework and Google Play Services are the bad guys, but most all other gapps depend on them.

If you had read anything Snowden has written (or the Citizenfour document) you would have known that Google gave NSA access to their servers without any push.

Just like Verisign, Verizon, any corp. in America basically.

I guess my point is what is your excuse for being 3 years late with this information?
>>
>>51310510
Yes
I should have bought a Nexus 5 it seems because the 6 only has CM and that's still too Google based for me

>>51310742
We didn't have the facts previously. Now it's all laid out.

>>51310521
Sailfish does look good but I'll probably have to switch phones so I'm probably gonna go with CM as its the lesser of two evils

Why does the Nexus 6 have to be so good?
>>
>>51310073
because it's based in russia, I can't trust it no more than a search engine being based in america.

>>51310154
yandex can't be trusted, is there a good image search site that isn't google, I can trust, and isn't shit?
>>
>>51309957
I'm already trying to ditch google. First step was to use another searchmachine. Next up android with no gapps.
>>
>>51310799
>>We didn't have the facts previously
Snowden came out with saying how NSA had ease access to their servers 2 or was it 3 years ago.
>>
>>51310773
Ironically the only parts many people seem to be aware of with Snowden is what they found out through the MSM which is only a selective subset of what they think is useful

In other words not much
>>
>Stop Google from trackin me and using cookies.
>Google Search is still by far the best, no contest.

Fugg it will be extra hard to drop google search
>>
>>51310820
through the MSM? What do you mean? Sorry.

Snowden leaked a fucking truck load of information and Google working with NSA was one of them.
>>
>>51310806
Why would Russia care about you? The one thing we've learned from Snowden/Assange/Manning is that it's our own government we need to be worried about

what about duckduckgo
is it good?
or is google/tier
>>
>>51311358
In terms of usability, I find it way more useful than Google because of this: https://duckduckgo.com/bang

In terms of privacy, nobody knows.
>>
>>51310929
Yes but we didn't know there was collusion right at the top level of Google and the US gov

That's what has been exposed now

The only thing I don't get is why this hasn't been on the MSM constantly since 6 months ago
>>
>>51310040
disconnect.me pleb
>>
>>51311465
I like DuckDuckGo's instant answers, but the general quality of search results is just awful. Google/Google proxies are much better at yielding what I'm actually looking for.
>>
>>51309957

Julian Assange is a hack who makes up more than half of the shit on his site. He can never cite even one credible source. When he gets these so called 'inside' sources, they are either disgruntled employees or people too low in the chain to know what is going on who will gladly get paid to lie.
