My Mom and I both got google Cardboards in the mail along with the NYT VR mobile app. We both tried it out and came to the conclusion that moving your head around is annoying, especially while sitting on the couch, lying down, etc.
I'm done with VR because of this. This is simply a cheap gimmick.

keep in mind that the resolution of phones is incredibly bad compared to proper vr, and the tracking is extremely subpar with extremely high latency versus proper vr

I've already experienced VR using my phone.

Cardboard isn't really worth it imo, just buy a Gear VR if you have a Samsung phone or wait for Oculus/Vive/PSVR.
