More importantly, why does Firefox freeze when opening any threads with 100+ comments/images?

The fact that you're running all that useless shit in the background just based on whats visible doesn't say much for your skills at memory optimization.

I'm only at 265k
werks for me
I open vSphere web client in Firefox and it keeps eating RAM as it's running until it reaches about 7 GB and crashes. IE/Chrome works fine. I've switched over to chromium on all my PCs.

>>51283814
Oh look, it's the "I don't know how my OS handles memory" thread again.
Pro tip: Firefox is using RAM because it is there. If you don't want it to use so much RAM, try removing some RAM from your computer. For more information please reread.

This doesn't explain the crazy high CPU use, unless OP is running flash or some shit.
