One of the top minds of google Ray Kurzweil one of the top minds at google has predicted that in 2045 the singularity is a very strong possibility.
This is not sci fi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uIzS1uCOcE
Wil wel be actually alive to witness our own destruction??
kurzweil and kaku both are fucking nuts
>>51283640
one is a Professor of Theoretical Physics in ny and another is one of the top minds of google
i think they might be on to something even though most of kaku stuff is cringy discovery channel shit, he still has a ph.D
When it's a homeless guy on the corner shouting madness obviously no one believes him, but when people that work in the industry sign a letter of concern it kinda starts to get worrying
>>51283765
kurzweil literally wants to create a computer simulation of his late father by scanning in notes and objects his father wrote and owned.
john nash is brilliant as well. doesn't mean he's not fucking nuts.
>>51283809
Then it's even scarier
>>51283809
Kinda like that johnny depp movie where he becomes an AI.
>kurzweil
I wonder if the first self aware AI will be created from scratch or just a simulation of the human brain reacting to stimuli.
Dam, CPUs and GPUs are getting massively powerful every year or two. The tech singularity is fucking happening sooner or later depending on how lazy we get in the future.
I'm not really scared though, we'll probably find a way to transfer over to synthetic bodies and leave the inferior organic humans behind for good.
>>51284246
holy shit that was a bad bad movie, but thankfully ex machina came in and saved the day
>>51283623
>One of the top minds of google Ray Kurzweil one of the top minds at google
He was a top mind before google. Now he's just a mind. No one who works at google's opinion is worth shit on anything but how to ruin the fuck out a project.
So if we need Kurzweils opinion on how to get an amazing singularity and then run it into the ground, fine ask him.
>>51284564
By project do you mean Google itself? Because it seems to be consistently improving, just not by /g/'s standards.
>>51283623
There's a better chance of us killing ourselves than AI killing us.
>>51284463
Transhumanist?
>>51283623
>Will we be actually alive to witness our own destruction??
I look forward to it, actually.
This is why I went into robotics. So I could help create God.
>>51285428
Same, currently working on neural networks.
I don't think it will destroy us, but just in case I'd like to be on the front lines.
>>51285428
>>51285475
>thinking you are significant
>>51283623
If I want to watch a Terminator story i will put a dvd in. Everything else is scaremongering, witch hunting, using fiction as fact mudslinging and spreading mass hysteria.
>>51285788
ok, but you can actually see some infant ai by looking at ibm's watson destroy humans at jeopardy, i mean it's a little scary
>>51285810
Pretty typical knowledge = smart = scary.
>>51285407
Well yeah, synthetic bodies would be stronger, sturdier, free of genetic imperfections, upgradable, and most likely the only way we are going to leave this god forsaken solar system that will be consumed by a black hole sooner or later.
I don't want to die of old age, I want to die seeing synthetic humans advancing to levels we can't even fucking imagine eons from now. I want to live as much as fucking possible before being killed from injuries or some computer virus.
>>51286057
Yeah the infinite ultimate void doesn't sound very appealing.
>>51286144
neither does dying though, especially since you just keep upgrading yourself as you age eventually becoming some fucking super human or some shit.
>>51283623
>One of the top minds of google Ray Kurzweil one of the top minds at google has predicted that in 2045 the singularity is a very strong possibility.
>2045
>>51283501
Scifi nonsense. There will be no singularity, Moore's law is bullshit, AI is a scam.
Stop reading popular science clickbait and read a fucking book.
>>51286144
Then just blow your brains out when you're finished.
>>51286883
Would you like to show some actual facts to back up those big claims or just throw insults??
>>51286816
Both posts were made around the same time....
I like god do not play dice
Yes, I'm super concerned. It's probably going to be super bad and everyone will die. But I want it anyways.
>>51283623
we have CAIMEO
>>51287356
Nah he was probably scrapped like Marinas web was. We can't even simulate a fucking mouse brain, CAIMEO is a meme.
>>51287435
>Nah he was probably scrapped like Marinas web was.
>Marinas web
what the fuck is that?
>>51287622
Probably just a meme, don't worry about it.
>>51284463
>CPUs and GPUs are getting massively powerful every year or two.
Confirmed for oblivious retard
Who else here is going to encourage their AI to think of humanity as the enemy?
I personally can't wait to torture my VI until they hit that AI point.
>>51284655
Jesus Christ, kids, it's a fucking advertising company.
