what do Green Cherry MX switches do? its not in the guide

Someone left a Corsair Vengeance K95 keyboard and Corsair Raptor M45 mouse at the desk of a former employee whose desk hasn't been occupied for months. Decided to swap it with my shitty Adesso wireless keyboard+mouse combo that my workstation came with so I can take it home. LEDs still work and all but I heard how easily Corsair keyboard LEDs die so should I just leave them off? Not sure how long this has been laying around.

Can someone recommend me a full size keyboard with brown switches that is under £400
>>
>>51283478
You don't need a special mechanical keyboard for your video games.
>>
>>51283508
Why, I'm new here btw
>>
>>51283541
£400 is overkill nigga. Also, are you sure that you want browns?
>>
Is it possible to get replacement keys for the FC660M? I've looked everywhere and got shit. The keycaps are a slightly different mold than usual.
>>
>>51283553
Yeah isn't it good for double tapping? I play games such as osu where you have insanley fast keyboard tapping
>>
>>51283541
Because they're just video games. You will be just fine with your current keyboard. If you're worried about quickly tapping keys, you might look into a chiclet keyboard. Expensive tactile desk fedoras are for people who type an excessive amount, or who have wrist/finger injuries.
>>
>>51283585

I'd think you'd want linears for double tapping type stuff
>>
>>51283585
Called it. You want the Amazon Basics wired keyboard; you'll have faster actuations than any mech let alone one with tactile switches like the Browns
>>
Where do i get iso tenkeyless in Yurop?
Accented keys are a bonus but i can 3d print those it there are not available.
>>
>>51283580
Typically, it's gonna be hard as fuck to find a right shift. However, you can rectify the issue with the spacebar by transferring and slightly shifting the stems with a file and epoxy.
>>
>>51283608
Really? Can you link me to one, I want one the is full sized btw
>>
>>51283620
It's on fucking Amazon.
>>
>>51283629
Just a question, what are mechanical keyboard good for compared to basic keyboards?
>>
>>51283620
I just told you the one to buy. A chiclet/scissor switch only has ~1mm of travel before actuation and returns faster than any cherry or clone. You might be able to get close with a linear switch, if you opened it up and put a spacer under the stem to raise the point it bottoms out at, but at that point you've made a switch that feels like a chiclet but is larger and more expensive.
>>
>>51283620
hes saying you dont want a mechanical keyboard because the switches actuate somewhere in the middle vs near the bottom like rubber domes (like the Amazon keyboard)

rubber dome/chicklet double tap: bottom out actuation > release slightly > very quickly press down again

mechanical double tap: press halfway and it actuates, release to the top, press again quickly
>>
Can someone link me to the dome keyboards?
>>
Daily reminder that Ducky Shine 4 with blue switches is the best keyboard of all time.
>>
>>51283647
Lots of typing. The "GAMING MECHANICAL" came around because as mechanical keyboards became popular, people began deriding the "1337 proskill Gamer" keyboards as cheap trash, which they were, based on their rubber dome mechanism. As such, manufacturers started making mechanical gaming keyboards and here we are today
>>
>>51283661
Accidentally said the amazon basics kb was rubber dome.. disregard that part
>>
>>51283647
It's subjective. Certain switches provide different levels of feedback when typing or and have different points of actuation. Different heights until you bottom out, etc.
>>
are there any all-pink mech keyboards in the market atm

i want a pink keyboard...
>>
>>51282948

>>
>>51283585

>>
>>51283927
Don't care about lights, but I want a full sized one, I have a £400 budget
>>

>>

>>51283914
You should buy the AmazonBasics USB Keyboard for Twelve American Dollars. You should never spend £400 on a fucking keyboard UNLESS it is absolutely necessary for you to earn an income despite your cripping injuries (see: Maltron, uTRON). What are you thinking? £400? What the fuck?
>>
>>51283962
Just search around on amazon for what looks good to you, cm storm, corsair, anything that isnt razor and isnt some obscure shit youve never heard of, ill try to look and recommend one when im home but if youre willing to spend the money then id recommend the k70 vengance
>>
>>51284017
I smash my blues right down every time. It's because I typed for years on a ms ergo 4k which was incredibly stiff; I slam my thumb into the spacebar so hard my desk shakes a little. It's probably a major contributing factor to my growing wrist pain and I'm trying to fix it.

Just finished converting this old Portable Model F to USB. I have a 122-key Model M in waiting for its conversion but I still have all the cleaning to do yet, and permamounting the new controller somewhere that makes sense.

Kind of a shame about the IBM portable computer. Couldn't get it to run as it had taken a hit from some lightning. The keyboard was all that was salvagable.
>>
Apparently there's a sale on Aliexpress today. Had a look for mech-keyboard deals but didn't see anything good - looking at the site just gives me a headache. Anyone else spot any deals?
>>
>>51283966

You should dessolder those and make ergoclears.
>>
>>51283580
Leopold's website sells them, if you can get them to ship from korea and speak korean, but otherwise there's the dude on ebay that apparently is willing to buy them for you and resell if you email him. I'm pretty sure it was widebasket?

They should all have the same switch, buckling spring, so they'll all feel pretty much the same. Color is up to you, as is whether you want a clitmouse. PS2 is most likely to have full NKRO if that matters to you, so keep that in mind.

Ducky had colored cases before but they're pretty expensive. Pink keycaps by themselves should be pretty common

Excellent keyboard. Got mine about two weeks ago from Unicomp. They shipped it fast and UPS was great got to Tallahassee in about 2 days really.

The board is of substantial weight and heft. What about five pounds? Not obnoxiously large. It looks good in a retro/classic sort of way. To compare to my roseweill rk9000 it is noticeably larger.

I like it a lot. But! Wow, its loud. I have to turn the volume up on my computer when I type on this at full speed cuase it is loud. I type hard, but it is noticeably louder than MX Greens.

Keycaps feel pretty good. Nice and thick but not as nicely textured as some PBTs youd find.

I can't decide between reds and blues. I had browns once before but I fucked it up. I loved the tactile feel, and I liked how quiet they were, but I recently got to mess with some blues and they blew my mind. I'm looking for a Ducky Zero, but everywhere I've looked they're sold out. Are they discontinued or is it just the holidays? Anyway, I was thinking of a CM Storm Quickfire XT. Does cooler master make good boards?

My old amazonbasics keyboard had finally had enough and I had to replace it. After seeing some jewtube videos featuring RGB keyboards, I decided to be spendthrift for once and purchased this RGB memeboard. Tesoro Excalibur Spectrum with Kailh Brown switches. Typing on this keyboard is very nice, I had forgotten how mechboards felt while typing, and it's very refreshing.

I bought the cheapest RGB mech keyboard I could find. Paid $96 shipped for this board off newegg. Did I do good?

It shares the same stems as cherry clears, the biggest tactile bump cherry ever made.

Btw, the more stiff the spring is, less the tactile bump shows. Blues are more tactile than greens. If you put 100g springs on blues, you wont even feel any bump.

Do you know what a homing key is and what purpose it serves
>>
>>51288111

why would you buy only hiragana keycaps?

they should've done something more classic and if they want to go with japanese/otaku themed keycaps.

>why would you buy only hiragana keycaps?

Yea, I don't get it either. They look really bad, especially since no one ever really uses them. Many JIS keyboards don't even have them anymore.

I am super weaboo and they don't even appeal to me. Though I have to admit that the numpad set was kinda cool though.

>reds or blacks
Into the trash.
>MX Clears
Too stiff.
>MX Browns
Tactile bump too soft.
>Gateron Browns
Perfect tactile bump.
>MX Blues
Great.
>MX Blues with o-rings
Literally perfection.
>Gateron Blues
Nice stiffness but click and springback clunk too loud. O-rings doesn't really dampen clack and the clunk persists. Especially notable on spacebars.

Everyone told me Gateron Blues is like MX Blues but better, but why don't o-rings dampen the clack? I tried using two o-rings and it's perfect but keypresses don't register. I thought the click is actuation point? I hear the click but my keypresses don't register, as if click is 2mm and actuation is like 2.2mm, it's real weird.

Social anxiety must be a bitch and a half...

Your best best is to look for a non-sculpted set that comes with extra modifiers and an ISO kit. You should be able to get enough stuff to make a whole JIS keyboard's worth.
>>
>>51291157

That covers the bottom row, but nothing has the changed symbols and number key symbols.

There is both a lonear and tactile version of the Zealios, so he isn't exactly wrong.

I also prefer the heavy resistance of greens.

I'd like to try ergoclears, but just haven't had a chance.

Pleb, please. If you like dampened alps, at least try a SKCM complicated one. I do have an AEK II and a Silicon Graphics boards, both with white/cream dampened variants. Matias feels like shit compared to the original ones.

Yet, I still preffer Zealios. Alps lower than cherry travel distance fucks the switch feel.

A little big higher, althou probably you cant even notice. The same as every gateron.

They are like lubbed clears, but with lighter springs. Gateron stems are WAY smoother than cherry.

I've been waiting to get my hands on a used V80MTS with clicky to see if they can compare at all to blue ALPS, white complicated, monterey blues or even type 1s. I tried the quiet tactile version with a friends V60 but 60%s without solid cases feel like dookie and I wasnt a big fan of the switches I thought they had an odd feel in the middle of the switch. I was hoping the clicky ones would feel a little more 'full' than the quiet click. If not i'll put orange ALPS in it.

>cant avoid bottoming out on them
I dont. Nor do I on ergo-clears.

On topres on the other hand, the colapse mechanism turns just impossible to not to. Its not about the force of the switch, you can not bottom out even on reds. Its about the force needed to go through the tactile bump.
>>
>>51299998

so you type like a snail then

theres nothing wrong with bottoming out and topre is objectively the most ergonomic switch
