Microsoft getting real desperate.
>>
>not upgrading to master race OS

you're the one to blame here

Microsoft so desperate my crappy x86 samsung tablet got an update so it could support w10

And nobody expected it because nobody expects Intel to do more work for outdated netbook tier shit.

Windows 8.1 was peak Microsoft, it's all downhill from there.

Heck, I would be happy if I could use a linux distro on this tablet.
>>
>>51277078
If you can't, then it's not really anyones fault but Intel or the manufacturer, since you probably got one of those shitter 32-bit x86 Atom tablets.
I have one of those, a ThinkPad Tablet 2. Sucks but it does its job.
>>
>>51277094
Sure, but then Intel just came out of nowhere and updated the chipset/gpu drivers for W10. I don't really think they'd do it if MS wasn't trying to get their dicks inside everything. It's almost like islam.

>Win7/8 fags start acting like it's cook to hate Microsoft
>they still use Windows anyway

I honestly can't wrap my head around this internal winbabby feud. The same shit spying on you is on 7 and 8 along with 10. The only clear differences between the versions are the desktop environment. If you guys are fed up, why not move to a unix-like OS instead of hanging on to an old OS?
>>
>>51278503
>The same shit spying on you is on 7 and 8 along with 10

Except you can just disable it

You might have to use Windows for specific software. Don't assume that people just use Windows because they love the system. Many would just switch in a moment, and many don't see it convenient to have to dual boot for stupid shit.

Sometimes there's just no choice.
>>
>>51277518

If you're not kidding you're a moron. Win95 had a shit tier architecture compared to modern NT based released. God even classic Mac OS had a better overall design then Win9x.

But there has been nothing good since Win7. Win8 was shit, Win10 is botnet. Fuck Microsoft.
>>
>>51278551
>Except you can just disable it
Not really/maybe for now
source: Microsoft has a universal backdoor so they can just do literally whatever they want

>You might have to use Windows for specific software.
Eh. This was always a weak argument and it has only gotten weaker. Not only should you not become vendor-locked in the first place (e.g. relying on "adobe products" or "microsoft office" instead of general programs that do the same things), but there are plenty of decent alternatives.

>Dual boot
I would never wish that on anyone. Some of the worst months of my life were when I tried that shit. It's like having two computers and having to shut one off every time you want to do anything on the other one.

>Sometimes there's just no choice.
I'm sure there's some extreme examples where I'd agree, but in general I would say there is always choice.
>>
>>51278503
>I honestly can't wrap my head around this internal winbabby feud. The same shit spying on you is on 7 and 8 along with 10.

You can disable it on 7.

>If you guys are fed up, why not move to a unix-like OS instead of hanging on to an old OS?

My primary work machine is a MacBook Pro. I have Windows VMs for Windows specific development and testing. I also have two cheap notebooks with Windows 7 for testing and various small shit (like zero writing drives) so I don't tie up the MBP.

I have to deal with Windows. Otherwise I would just use OS X primarily and Linux for some shit.

There's no alternative when a client needs a .NET application. Work on an old VB6 application or Access database. Or Windows testing of a cross platform Xojo or Java application.

Even with office type shit where there are good alternatives, you can't believe the drama when some people use a FOSS alternative and some people use MS Office. Double the training materials, double the support...people are idiots and stop cold due to minor differences.

>>Dual boot
>I would never wish that on anyone. Some of the worst months of my life were when I tried that shit. It's like having two computers and having to shut one off every time you want to do anything on the other one.

God yes. It's only good for Mac or Linux users who want to boot into Windows for gaming.
>>
>>51278624
But 95 had the last (and first and only) good user interface decision Microsoft ever came up with. It gave us the classic start menu. And fuck, it doesn't matter how shit the architecture was, you exit to DOS to play games, bruv.
>>
>>51278645
>Not really
As easy as not installing updates past some point

You have a more vulnerable system but at this point it's hard to tell anyways

>Not only should you not become vendor-locked in the first place (e.g. relying on "adobe products" or "microsoft office" instead of general programs that do the same things), but there are plenty of decent alternatives.

You're not going to have a discussion with someone over your own job just because you want to use your own software of choice to do your job. To be honest, there -are- good alternatives on linux, I would say LibreOffice is really good. But you can't hope to replace half the adobe suite, maybe photoshop with GIMP and it's definitely a different thing to work with.

I don't believe this is a good reason either. More than 25% of all Steam games are supported on GNU/Linux now. If you wanna play some edgecase game that isn't supported you can use qemu+kvm

Why can't anything ever just be good. It's as though our very nature, and thus the nature of the human condition, runs strictly contrary.

Nothing can be good. We're a broken hacked together mess that makes everything garbage. We're the race of omnipresent second bests.

all this on a 5 year old laptop.

I'm happy I guess.

>So, should I update to windows 10 from windows 8? Who has used both?

I went from 7 to 8 to 10 since I'm admin and need to test them against our software. 8 to 10 is not really a big step, both work about the same except the new start menu thing and overall appearance.

Took a while until Remote Server Tools came out and they are still buggy. VPN is also somehow unfinished yet. And don't expect too much form the store, it is still basically non existent.

But I had no problems with any installed software, everything still works after the update except the graphics and sound driver which I had to reinstall.

So if you plan to do it make sure you have all the drivers for your hardware before.

Does it work with any gif? Because I've been trying to embed a script inside a gif, but it doesn't work and it only works with a gif that someone already inserted script in that I downloaded off the internet. Even if I try doing it letter by letter, the browser still doesn't see it and only sees the script in the picture I downloaded. What the fuck is going on?
