Windows 10 is designed so Microsoft can keylog the entire general public and force-push unwanted updates. If it weren't for the bullshit privacy-raping anti features it would be hands down the best OS Microsoft has released since Windows 7. If Windows Server 2016 can be kludged into working as a desktop OS when it releases, I'd recommend that instead, since there's no way in hell Microsoft will inflict those awful features on companies who pay MS the big bucks for volume licenses.

Linux is just a kernel. The UI layer is what most people care about, and there are some good ones. Check out Ubuntu, or hell, Android-x86 if you're crazy.

I accidently wiped my Windows drive clean when attempting to dual boot with Ubuntu. I couldn't be bothered to reinstall Windows so just went with Linux full time to see how things went.
For me, it does everything I need it to. Bear in mind that I don't play a lot of games or work with photoshop so I don't miss that side of things. My girlfriend downloaded a .doc file to work on and she had no problems editing it in Libre Office. From a hardware perspective, Ubuntu uses 2GB RAM when I have Chromium+tabs, Spotify and Steam open. On Windows 10 I use the same amount of memory before I've even opened anything.
So, evaluate what you need and try it.

There's only two reasons to use Linux: muh fritos, and system performance.
Freedumbs is for people with CP. The performance features exist for servers and compute clusters and whatnot--not much use on a desktop.
