Just get a surface book/ surface pro 4 instead. Surface book up to 512GB SD and surface pro 4 up to 200GB mSD.

i used a 128gb in my main PC and it's enough for my game saves, and my main programs, but as your main computer's only drive 240gb is the minimum i'd go, or 180gb at a push.

No, you should probably get 256 if you intend to use VMs.

A Windows VM / MS-Office / VS basically any software by MS eats up tons disk space.

I don't know why people on here are so against expandable storage. 64 or even 32gb is fine so long as you have it.

I had a Macbook Air with a 128GB SSD and it was enough, since I only used it for coding, but god it was slow. Turns out 256GB units are way faster because they're basically 2x128 NAND units parallelized. 512GB ones are even faster but the bigger difference is between 128 and 256.
