Biggest technological disasters
It was really a disaster. It just went unnoticed because of a retarded CEO.

Meant "wasn't". I'm a fucking idiot.

Touchscreens as a full replacement for physical keyboards on smartphones.
Windows 10. Biggest inconsistent piece of shit ever designed. They must really fucking hate their customers. I fucking hate Apple but they understand this so much better.
Not to talk about all the spyware that's in Windows 10.
>>51266370
physical qwerty keyboards on such a tiny device are an awful idea. swipe/voice dictation is much, much better, with individual keys being used for very occasional corrections
>>51266405
Yeah, I still use Windows 7
What the fuck were they thinking with this piece of shit.
>>51266374
Not a disaster
It just became irrelevant

that would have worked if it wasn't $300
>>51266426
That's an opinion. Which I respect. I still prefer those physical qwerty keyboards bruh
>>51266429
I'm with you bro. Windows 7 best Windows. Everything after that is complete shite

Were they inspired by System Shock 2 ?

I suppose it wouldn't be if you have tiny manlet hands, but who gives a shit about you at that point

2011 Flooding in Thailand.
Hard drive prices had significant price spike.
Even after the flooring, when normal operations returned, companies tried to prolong pre-flooding prices as much as possible.
>>51266683
This pissed me off
Apple Maps.
>>51266426
Fuck no it isn't. You don't type a web address or a script using swype. Considering that a significant portion of smartphone usage involves browsing the net, that's a pretty important thing to be able to do. Hell, it's even great for emulating games. Ditching my modern brick for a legacy droid with a qwerty was the best phone-related thing I ever did.
absolute trash for virgins
>>51266304
bro i had this phone back when i was around 14-15 and it was pretty fuckin dope. very unique, and didnt require a smartphone plan. i could even use wifi on it. i had the small blackberry type one. it was free and it was a good phone. everyone would be like bro what kinda fuckin phone is that.
>>51266304
I would really, really like a modern equivalent to these with flagship hardware.

>>51268396
Windows 7 and XP
Everything else, correct.
>>51266426
That's not really true, I never had a problem with the physical keyboards and was much faster at typing then compared to a touch keyboard, plus you can feel what keys your on and don't even have to look as much. But even still my favorite thing about a physical keyboard is the fact that it doesn't take up any of the screen, which is really great when the keyboard is for landscape mode cause touch keyboards take up most of a landscape orientation. Plus physical keys are much bigger on landscape as well which makes them even better if you have sausage fingers which seems to be your main complaint.
tl;dr lose finger weight and lrn to screen fgt

Inconsistency.
Two separate control panels, vista icons and win9x/NT/XP icons on a flat UI, shitty half-assed design in general
they had eight fucking years and literally one of the most simplistic software design trends ever to follow and they still fucked up
I don't think anything was quite as bad as the kin. it was such a gross mismatch between the technology we had available on the market and what they actually put together.
The palm pilot like>>51266374 is a bad contribution to this thread because it was reasonably good given its contemporaries. The Kin came out in 2010. The iPhone 4 came out in 2010. The HTC EVO 4G came out in 2010. The Nexus One came out in 2010! The Samsung Galaxy S devices were taking shape (the Captivate on AT&T, the Vibrant on Verizon, etc...)
In a cosmic/astronomical sense, 2010 was when the dust of the universe started visibly clumping together into planets and stars and shit. I wouldn't necessarily use my Captivate today, but jesus if I needed to I bet I could replace the battery and get by with most of the software and features I'm used to in 2015. Couldn't say that about most phones made up to 2009.
And then there was the Kin. Look at that abortive mess.
>>51266667
No, it goes in your arm.
>>51268234
>>51266528
I always wanted one just for this joke.
Too bad they still cost a fortune, even when the nexus player's $50.

I think that's just the first image. The second one is a diagram of how to insert it in your anus.
>>51268184
Ding ding ding we have a winner
Internet Appliances. 10 times the cost of a fucking computer, with 1/8th the functionality.
This one, in particular, is my favorite. It ran BeOS which was bought and killed by Palm the moment this appliance was released. Sony then bought all the units back and burned them to save themselves the embarrassment.
Seriously though, BeOS itself was pretty great.

Who the fuck cares? I me besides autists. I realize you do in fact care, but the fucking icons isn't what was going to sell me on Windows 10, or not. That shit is trivial, especially when compared to everything else about the OS.

Uh no, they literally stole it from IBM, who thought the idea was retarded.
>>51271640
Have you tried Haiku? It seemed promising but development has been very slow. I think it's still in Alpha.
I actually liked the concept of the Kin. It wasn't a bad device, it was just released under a retarded CEO who just wanted to push his convoluted Metro UI everywhere, even on a tiny screen.
>>51272175
Nigga the Kin came out before MetroUI was a thought.
>>51272316
Originally, Metro UI came in the Zune devices. It was just polished and later used in Windows Phone/8.
>>51266616
But can you prove it doesn't work?
>>51266339
>>51266358
It cost them half a billion dollars. It was a disaster.
>>51266445
Did this shit do anything the chromecast doesn't do today? How the fuck could that thing cost $300.
>>51271640
That's a very interesting design, especially for its era.
But yeah Internet appliances NEVER worked. The web browsers usually made IE5 standards compatible look good, and there was no way to update.
>>51272075
