Use TOR they said, it's safe they said.
>>
Nobody said that.
>>
You have to be fool if think anything safe from the prying eyes of the NSA.
>>
No one ever claimed Tor would prevent the exit node from seeing what's in your data stream.

At least they're open about it.

Who fucking cares? If you read anything about how onion routing ~MAGICALLY HIDES EVERYTHING~ in layers, this was practically an expectation. It's just good for pirating shit like amateur porn. I don't think expensive porn artists from Patreon will set up an exit node and come knocking at my door.
>>
>>51265420
>torrenting over Tor

Fuck off, you're slowing down the network for the rest of us.
>>
>>51265525
>pirating = torrenting
You don't need to torrent when there's direct downloads on .onion forums. The word "torrent" is nowhere in the post, Hans Assburger.
>>
>>51265525
Tor is a SOCKS proxy, which you cannot use with Bittorrent because it uses UDP and not TCP. Maybe there could be a way around it; I don't know for sure.

>>51265420
either you are retarded, or lying.

It's a well known fact that the FBI owns like 80% of the Tor exit nodes.

Works fine.
>>
>>51267196
Who cares about entry, if in the end the node will change on exit.
>>
>>51267539
Yeah, except for the fact that bittirrent sends your IP to your peers. It's part of the protocol. Torrey over for is useless and slows the whole system.
>>
>>51267161
You know, on most surveillance threads, a VPN is mentioned. But the posters recommending this can't use VPNs, as they're blocked here, right?

Are there any VPNs 4chan doesn't block? Or is the only way setting up your own by buying a VPS, which is expensive?
>>
>>51267539
Of course it works fine you idiot, it's because part of your bittorrent traffic isn't actually going through Tor.
>>
>>51269244
What do you mean? I've used a VPN to browse/post on 4chan on a wifi network that didn't allow it.
>>
VPNs are not even secure any more, NSA cracked the encryption they use

That was supposed to be at >>51266321 not the other guy saying it slows shit down. It does and he's right. Now I'm the fucking retard. Thanks a lot >>51266321 you faggot
>>
Everyone think that a VPN is the magic key, no VPNs are less secure then TOR if you use it properly.
If you want more control "secure" then make your own VPN server.
You still gotta trust the exit of any VPN service could be compromised same rule exists for TOR but TOR will use relays so it's harder to find a user that for example browses loliporn then if you would use a VPN and exit is compromised.

Proofs? I know they cracked Diffie-Hellman due to poor design by using only two common primes.
>>
>>51271835
There is none, particularly because there is no one 'vpn encryption'.
>>
OP is a moron. Even with a single exit node, they can't do anything. The real danger is them monitoring all nodes and doing timing attacks. Even thst would require targeted surveillance to identify a single user. There is no practical reason for them to run any nodes.
>>
>>51265287
lmao literally like 90% of ppl here said that Tor had been compromised for a long long time. Not only that but the NSA runs quite a large number of the Tor nodes, in which they packet sniff and MITM all day long.

Stay retarded win10/Tor/google faggots.
>>
>>51272785

That simply isn't true. The tor network hasn't been compromised. There have been a selective number of timing attacks, and a patched Firefox bug that was exploited, but that's it.
>>
>>51273018
>the NSA posts on /g/
who knew
>>
>>51273033

If anything, you're the NSA spreading FUD about the tor network. Alot of people are safe and alive thanks to the tor network, from Syrian refugees to wholesale drug dealers. It's not funny or edgy to imply that it's compromised without providing reasonable evidence.
>>
>let's use a protocol invented by the Navy
>totally not a botnet

TOR is a meme
>>
>>51273093
nice try with the reverse phsychology, but most people here can detect shills now. Enjoy your taxpayer funded paycheck though.
>>
>>51273112
It's open source. Do you really believe there's a significant amount of the original source code left after 16 years of development? We know for sure that it's secure as of 2013.

>>51273122
Go to bed, Jake.

Let's say it was developed by Bruce Schneier, but the NSA posted proof it's full of backdoors, would your head explode?

>implying that people don't have the right to privacy

For the record, the US state Department is one of the largest donors to the program. Tor is very useful when they are rallying people to overthrow "oppressive" (read: not friendly to the US) governments.
>>
>>51273269

Their internal slides show that they haven't compromised tor as of 2013. There is little evidence to suggest it's changed much since then.
>>
>>51273443
Did you even read what you quoted?
Are you saying you literally have access to their current slides on Tor?
>>
>>51273472

The post that he quoted was arguing that it's compromised because it was developed by the naval research lab. We know that it's solid as of 2013. We also have ancillary evidence to suggest that it hasn't been compromised on a wide scale yet.
>>
>>51273527
Don't you mean "navel research lab"?

>>
>>51267105
>not running an exit node
>it's like you dont even want to get v& within 48 hours
ftfy
>>
>I don't understand how tor works

Exit nodes are always unsafe.
The magic of tor is that it doesn't matter who controls an exit node. If your data is encrypted, it's as safe as houses.
>>
>>51270717
VPNs are the best for getting imprisoned. They're breakable by the fucking FBI, let alone the NSA.
They're only good protection against copyright claims. Anything above that level of criminality and they're a wet paper bag.
>>
>>51270864
Well with VPNs you have to trust the VPN itself anyway. And you can't because they always cooperate with law enforcement the best they can. and the NSA can remotely crack VPNs. It was in the snowden leaks.

The magic of Tor is again, you don't have to trust any single point in the chain.
What you do have to trust is that less than 60% of the entire chain is compromised by the same organisation.
Which is near impossible, and the NSA doesn't even put much effort into that since it's a massive waste of money.
>>
>>51273122
Read the NSA leaks about tor.
The only reason to not believe these leaks is if you think snowden is an NSA operative still, who released a MASSIVE amount of information on purpose.
If this was the case, he'd only release information about tor and a few other pieces, not EVERYTHING. Not the massive quantity of hilariously damning evidence that shows the NSA had been lying to congress for over a decade about how it ignores the constitution. That's heavy, heavy stuff.
>>
>>51274121
So how is tor compromised again?
I mean, what is your reasoning?

It's safe as of 2013, and the slides indicate quite clearly that there aren't even any plans to 'break' tor. Infact their strategy is to get people to stop using it.
Sounds familiar, does it not?

Or maybe you could point out how china broke tor. (They haven't.) Or how Iran, Russia, and other countries with similar resources but less moral scruples have failed too.

>being old

>being this guy
Thank god, I'm not.
>>
>>51265287
Just because the exit node belongs to the NSA, this doesn't mean that they can actually "read" the traffic.
That's just not how TOR works.
>>
>>51277083
it isn't even NSA its just a PTR record everyone can make that with an IP they own.
>>
>>51265420
illigal trading of credit and porn is the hot ticket item. when all the african prince proto-meme-teamers went the way with spam bots and worms now they have a cozy little hell with the TOR
>>
>>51277083
yes, I'm sure the NSA is using a shit-tier VPS providers instead of their own A-block and publicly advertising themselves with pointer records.
>>
>>51277092
>>51277155

Sorry, I forgot something:
They can not actually see, where the trafic is going, as in "who requested the data"
