Some older 775 based core2 machines

The only modern and potentially useful parts I have are a few decent power supplies.

I sell everything else when I upgrade
>>
all of my old motherboard, ram, psu etc which became my server. pc master race, see you at your garage sale consolefags.

Outside of that the only thing I don't sell is a few PSUs, most common part I deal with for helping others for money that breaks and is almost totally universal, they're all sub 300w units from other dead pcs. And a shit ton of internal cables like sata and a few fans.
>>
>>51257167
damn, willing to sell any of it?
>>
I think I have a GTX 560 somewhere

I usually sell my old hardware when I don't need it anymore
>>
>>51257167
I've got 4 mid-low end graphic cards, old cpu's, broken motherboards, 3 pc cases, water cooler, 3 PSU's, High-end graphics card, high-end cpu fan.

several hdds a dvd drive, couple sticks of laptop and desktop ram, and cables out the ass. I don't get rid of a computer often but when I do I strip it of everything that might foreseeably be usefull, don't have a spare psu cause the last box I got rid of was basically a laptop mobo in a desktop case

Exactly 45 micronPC clientpro towers

i worked for USAA bank and when the promo ended in 2001 i was given all the leftover towers as part of my salary option, i didnt need the extra money and i thought the computers were cool

still got em all, all of them but 1 are brand new in their original packaging, still sometimes play the sims 1 on it

Would you be willing to sell a 240mm rad, CPU block and pump?
>>
I have a system with an c2d e8600 that im upgrading to a xeon x5450.

Have a foxconn g41s-k itx board with a pentium something that is going to get the e8600.

Then my father is using a set top box with some itx board and an athlon x2 5400+ that will get the foxconn board and then i'll have the amd board+cpu and pentium cpu... hopefully to trade for a low-profile graphics card.
>>
>>51257468
na. Sorry bro. I kept all my liquid stuff, Switch 810 case, and rads because If I ever go back to custom loop (currently on air) I know everything fits in the case and the parts all play nice without issue. Pumps are nothing special. One is XSPC single slot DVD drive that is rather weak.

Other in made by jingway, the OEM who makes pumps for phobya and EK. That's the one I'd be keeping.

had a 90 degree fitting break on me during a system tear down. Was replacing a motherboard that died on me. (first motherboard just couldn't handle an fx-9370 clocked at 5.2ghz for too long. VRM finally popped.) Was swapping in my new sabertooth board. Anyhow, what should have been a quick switch and windows 7 reinstall turned into 3 days of me waiting for a new fitting. Got so fed up I drove to microcenter, bought their best air cooler (for $90 none the less) and slapped it on there. Haven't gone back. Been thinking of doing it but idk. I'm not as overzealous as an overclocker anymore.

If I can't put them in some anti-static bag or their original packaging that doesn't take up too much space, I usually wrap them in something obviously non-conductive such as paper.
>paper
Not the best thing, I know - but it gets the job done. I haven't had any problems with paper yet, so that's good. I also buy bookshelf-like things, also shoe shelves etc and dedicate things to each shelf.
I regards to the paper, I started with some brown 'retro hipster' old gift look, then I just started to color co-ordinate them based on a few categories such as part type (mobo, CPU, GPU, RAM etc.)

>>
>>51259139
not that anon, but you pretty much have to have an "in" with these types of things. Either you work there or you have a buddy who does. Otherwise you're limited to scouring craigslist and yard sales / estate sales.

I used to work at staples and I took more than my fair share of recycles home. I never got anything as nice as a 2500k but at the time they were only a year or two old so most of them were still in operation

I have an old HPdc 5750 lying around that i spent 2 hours trying to install windows 98 on. I got it working and then tried the game blood and the difference between dos box was not worth what I went through.

>>
>>51259139
>>51259212
You can always post some ads on craigslist that you are willing to recycle other peoples old tech for free and that you'll be willing to pick it up in certain areas. Then you can just sort through all of the junk you get and take what you want and just drop the rest off at some place that does free recycling (Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples, etc)

If you don't get lucky though, you'll be wasting gas, your time, and putting unnecessary miles on your vehicle BUT you'll also be cleaning up the landfills =)

If you do decide to do something like that though be prepared to have to filter through a lot of shit.

90% of what you get will probably be old printers. A small percentage of those printers will be old laser printers that still work fine and may be cleaned up and sold. Most will be junky inkjets that may be entirely defective or just need the printheads cleaned and ink reservoirs replaced.

Also be prepared to smash a lot of hard disks. A lot of people won't willing give up their data to a stranger (but for some reason they will trust a stranger in a uniform that works a minimum wage part time job) so you can put in the ad that when you pick up the machine you will destroy their hard drive so their data is unrecoverable.

At staples whenever someone dropped off a pc and said they had a concern about data I would always them them that I wipe all PCs that I get for recycle. That was a mostly a lie of course because most of them I did not wipe but I did remove the magnets from. The ones that I wiped I usually kept for myself. If someone dropped off their pc for recycle and were concerned about the data and it was slow in the store I would pull their hard drive on the spot and start wiping it. I probably only have a quarter of my total magnet harvest left, pic related. I lose them, give them away, use them for stuff, etc. They make great screw holders when disassembling something.

Hard drives are somewhat of a consumable so you don't really want the old ones anyway. You may get lucky and it may never die or it might die at the most inopportune moment. Maybe invest just use a cordless drill and a bigass drill bit and just take a chunk out of a circuit board or of the platters.

Why scrap a 2500K? I would understand a Phenom or C2D but this is a modern overclockable CPU that can easily compete with 2015 models.

I keep a Phenom II build myself, a Phenom 9600, a 780TI GTX, some fans. Want to build a mobile ITX station.
