Honestly THIS damn close to going back to XFCE. I'm on Gnome flashback for GKT3 but every next version keeps fucking up more and more programs (seriously, who the fuck thought Eye of Gnome would be better with controls OVERLAYED ON THE DAMN IMAGE) plus breaks every single theme, forcing me to fix them by hand. And honestly, when you start fixing friggin' Numix - the one damn thing that always looked fine - you know it's gone too far.

nice DE

Maybe...

But xfce is lighter, I like it when things are just that little bit more responsive.

Can't we all just accept that these things are up to personal choice (except unity, which is shit) and all get along? Better yet, go fight with the gnome fags and us xfce/lx fags will watch and laugh.

How awkward.
>>
>>51245175
I like it.
It's a perfectly ordinary desktop, few frills, decently configurable.

>>51245455
I started installing the MATE utilities instead of the GNOME ones after seeing shit get literally worse every update. So fucking glad MATE exists for that reason.
>>
>>51245491
I tried some MATE stuff too and I'm just wishing they finish the GTK3 port before I get so fed up with entire Gnome thing that I actually go back to XFCE. I need Gnome for its nice Wacom tablet support right now (monitor mapping), but they're seriously pissing me off...
>>
>>51245481
openbox + compton user here. What the hell are you on about?
>>
>>51245591
Openbox isn't a DE and it's not Xfce. Fucktard.
>>
>>51245629
Duh, but you can easily use it inside XFCE and it works perfectly with compton. Besides, why'd you even run compton with xfwm, just turn on its own compositing feature.
>>
I like it. Its clean.

At least its not Unity, hyuk hyuk hyuk hyuk.
>>
>>51245725
>why'd you even run compton with xfwm, just turn on its own compositing feature.
Because the xfwm compositor is shit.
>>
>>51245829
Then just use a WM with compositing that isn't shit or try out other compositing managers - xcompmgr could do the trick. No need to hate entire DE because one of its components has a feature that doesn't work for you.
>>
feels good, OP. Compton installed with no issues. Since I'm on Xubuntu I also get up-to-date packages. However, I'll have to wait to get the most up-to-date version of XFCE...

I just use compton...
>>
>>51245884
Open up Settings Editor, on the left tab, scroll to the bottom and look for "xfwm4", Click it and now on the right side scroll down to find titleless_maximize, tick it.

Wa la.
