Objectively, the best PC build if you don't care about gaming, if you are not autistic :

>i3
you already fucked up.

if it doesn't have 4 cores, you better be playing 2d sidescrollers.

x4 860k minimum or bust.

Read the OP's post, then try again.

>single RAM instead of 2x2 dual channel
>seagate HDD

Besides that, it's great, and I'd add a low-cost discrete GPU for video acceleration, and maybe a cheap aftermarket CPU cooler.
>>
>not using an 8 gb usb stick with chromium OS instead of paying for HDD
>>
>>51244661
that is making me think. are there usb 3.0 sticks with speeds much higher than the usual hdd's? that could be a lot cheaper than getting a 128gb ssd just for the os
>>
>>51244675
They die fast. Thumb drives' nand goes bad super fast
>>
why not just buy a laptop if you don't care about vidya?
>>
>>51244526
>>51244634

b-but its so pricey now
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WcdpTW

or you could go for this for $100 more:

Why aftermarket cooler?
>>
>>51244287
G3258 costs 49.99 at microcenter.

>$110 processor
>after market cooler

You're actually dumb

Better build

>>51244409
An i3 is a much better choice than an AMD chip. I can tell you haven't actually tried gaming on an i3, or even thoroughly researched it.
>>
>>51244287
Shit had read speed, shit ram speed, shit speakers

If you're a pleb who just browse a 4chan, you're fine. But you can't photoshop, you can't browse intensive websites without lag, you might as well buy a chrome book Xd. 400$ shitmobile
>>
>>51244287

>23 inch
ok
>>
Why not a fucking i3-6xxx series that have a decent Gpu now for low-mid quality vidya?
>>
>>51244287
Desktop PC's are a meme anyways.
If you're not using a tablet by now you're truly retarded.

Nah m8

Might as well buy a used business laptop. It'll be cheaper, faster and portable.

>micro atx in an atx midtower

nigga you being serious?

Intel stock coolers are mediocre, at least on older generations (Ivy Bridge), which I'm using now and planning on upgrading in +- 2/3 years.
The stock one that came with the i5 3570K died on me after about 6 months of use, so I went and got the meme CM Hyper 212 X cooler instead.

Best decision I've made. Quiet and cool.

Load temps have never been above 70°C unless in very heavy usage, or benchmarking.
>>
Nah. This is better for not gaming.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/h6hRdC

1) You can still overclock the G3258 with stock cooler a bit on H97. They won't use programs that will benefit from quadcore drastically more than dualcore.
2) Typical laymen will see the biggest speedboost from using an actual SSD as compared a HDD, and they likely won't need much space.
3) Typical laymen will be stupid and leave lots of stuff open in the background. 8GB RAM does indeed help.
4) Speakers are built into the monitor for less space taken up on the desk. Typical laymen won't give a shit about the worse audio quality.
>>
>>51244287
Nigger, get a 7850K or 7870K. Better on board graphics, you could a get board for cheaper, and put the saved money towards better ram for better graphic performance.
>>
>>51246005
Typical laymen don't use desktops in 2015.

But this was $330, including monitor and Aiwa stereo that puts out some decent thumps.
And I have a GTX 580 sitting here that I picked up for $15. That'll put it at $345 with ~2.5X its current GPU.
>>
>>51244287
>being so useless you think the only reason for good specs are video games
just get a laptop
>>
>>51246523
>And I have a GTX 580 sitting here that I picked up for $15.
Did you get lucky on Craigslist? Damn.
>>
>>51246523
Give the 580 back Jamal
>>
>>51246578
>Did you get lucky on Craigslist?
Yes. More than once.

The server barebones with the X3450 and 16GB was $150. (though no onboard so I needed to spend $20 for the Audigy FX.)
The Caviar Black was $20.
Then I picked up the monitor for free as my work was ditching their old workstations, and got the OS for free from someone with a MSDN. 640GB hard drive was free out of a lightning fried laptop.

>$400
>desktop with integrated graphics

My Thinkpad cost a hundred dollars less and has twice the ram, a quad core i7, and two hard drives, the master being SSD.

Anybody who buys this garbage desktop setup is just bad with money.
>>
>>51246645
Legit sale. She upgraded to a GTX 970 and let the 580 go for $15.

fucking dropped

If you don't care about gaming and want budget then just go AMD.

What's wrong with 2D sidescrollers, anon?
;)
>>
What's better for a gentoo budget build? Amd or intel?
>>
>>51246812
2nd most cheapest build
>if you don't care about specs/performance
>if you are a starving student
>if you are literally too poor

Only needs usb stick or optical drive for install media (not included). Note that mouse, power supply, and graphics are included.

>>
>>51244287
I gagged. Poorfag parts, only an i3, low-tier HDD.
>>
>>51246917
If you want to go even more budget, pick up a PC from a thrift store.

Found a functioning dual-core PC for $12 once. Only had to replace the video card.
>>
You can get a Lenovo T420 with an i5 on ebay for about $150.
