I know 1440p is great if you don't want to pay exorbitant amounts for a functional 4k setup, but are 144hz monitors worthwhile or just a meme? For games and for general stuff.

pic semirelated

Meme. FPS players use it for minor benefit at the highest level.

Anything else is placebo. You'll get responses from people with buyer's remorse though.
>>
144hz vs 60hz is a lot like 30FPS vs 60FPS.

Not a meme, 120/144hz is the best upgrade you can make. Seriously much more responsive, and smoother.
>>

I wouldn't say it's that significant of a jump. Most people can't even tell the difference between 60 and 144 side by side from a purely visual perspective.

Huge upgrade over 60Hz even if you only use it for web browsing. Everything is so much smoother and sharper in motion, once you've tried it you'll never go back.

This is impossible to believe. Just move the mouse, you'll see the difference immediately. I suspect whoever set up the "comparison" was reddit-tier computer user (pic related).

This can't be true. The difference is glaring, I think even my grandma could see it.

144hz is only good if your hardware can dribe that kind of framerate. which aint easy even at 1080p max setting, let alone 1440p. i prefer the game looking pretty at consistent 60fps.
>>
>>51241839
search for the model name you fuck
>>
>>51241047
Meme. Human eye can't see more than 60 FPS.
>>
>>51241897
Completely irrelevant.
>>
>>51241897
If you actually bothered to test it with a strobing LED you'd see it maxes out at >10000fps.
>>
>>51241833
What's the refresh rate?
>>
>>51241974
60hz
>>
Its not a meme. There is definitely a higher sense of fluidity and smoothness with 120 Hz, assuming your GPU can deliver such frame rates.
>>
60 fps looks buttery smooth but my mouse trails are obvious, what is this witchcraft???

no it's not mouse trails turned on. 60 hz display.
>>
>>51241577

just look how blurry the 60fps is. At 120hz it isn't blurry and moves across smoothly.

I say moving from 1080 to 1440 looks like putting your glasses back on after cleaning them well after a long time. Best way I can describe it.
>>
Question: do 144hz monitors have any kind of benefit when displaying 30/60fps content? Obviously you are not getting full use of your refresh rate but I'm wondering if things any smoother than 60fps on a 60hz monitor.
>>
>>51242503
Nope.

Anyone here have a recommendation for 144 hz? Also should I get a g sync monitor?
>>
All i can tell you is that the difference between 60 and 120 is very visible in regards to when you scroll webpages and the words and letters are much more clearly visible as you are scrolling, compared to being blurry as you scroll.
>>
>>51242503
for movies and other vsynced content that is always at 30/60fps, no.
otherwise, yes. but it's tiny.
>>
>>51241047
If you play fast paced games like CSGO they're a must, pretty much.
Otherwise, it's nice, but you can live without it.
>>
I think if you can run most games at 144hz you might see a benefit from it.

Either that or if you are trying to compete at the very highest possible level and don't care much about visuals, because it degrades the image a reasonable amount
>>
how many of you actually play CS and think you're somehow not a fucking pleb?

tell me about how you play minecraft too.
