That's terrible for the amount you are spending.

Your motherboard is incapable of the high M.2 x4 speeds. Hence why I'm paying double you are.
>>
>>51241259
It's still faster than a traditional SSD.

Anyways, i might end up dropping it to save $50, and another $50 for a regular SSD.

Same thing with the old M.2 speeds. Won't matter to you know, but you will regret it when you see how fast those M.2 drives are going to get.

True, but not good for upgrading.
I like the idea of going the Xeon route. I'll have to think about that.

My build.

I'm nearly complete with this build just need to order the cooler and m.2 drive. The total cost is going to come out to $1450, feels good man.

Stopped reading right there.

>>51241365
I guess I would just buy a single 970 or 980, then sell it in a year and buy another single card. Cross fire is a pain.
>>
>>51241628
Then how do I read your post.
>>
>>51239580
Memory
16GB DDR4 (dunno yet)

M.2
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB

Motherboard
Top Tier AM4 Asus board. Dunno if Rampage or Sabertooth

CPU
Top Tier Zen Core

PSU
Another Silverstone. Probably 850W. Current one is still going strong.

GPU
Undecided. Might get Pascal or Arctic Isles. Upgrading from 7970 though. So my options are many.

Storage
Might get 4 SSD's in raid, and 4 4TB drives.

I'll never need another computer for 10 years. Feels good already.
>>
>>51241647
If I were buying it all at once from scratch I'd probably consider it, but I've been putting it together out of parts I've picked up over the last 2 months.

When it works those cards in crossfire are like 50% more powerful than a 980 for the same price anyway so I don't feel too bad about it.

if it was skylake it would be as above

If it was Zen it look about the same.

Not sure if i want to get m.2 in the future or not far after building the pc. debateable at the moment we will see when Zen comes out.

I cant find any reviews/opinions on real world effect for 2k mb/s drives. it would be nice to see someone say it boots windows in 4 seconds and gets Dragon Age Inquisition load times down to 5 seconds or something that matters about it.

I know and that's half the problem

http://techreport.com/review/29221/samsung-950-pro-512gb-ssd-reviewed/4

According to this which has the 850 evo in it to represent a sata ssd. Not much.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/950-pro-review-samsungs-first-pcie-m-2-nvme-ssd-is-an-absolute-monster/
But these synthetic numbers should be read with a degree of caution. They’re only raw transfer speeds, and don’t reflect real-world use. It can be tricky to get accurate figures for the differences between the real-world performance of storage devices, as so many other aspects of a system come into play (such as CPU clock frequency and core count).

.We ran the PCMark07 secondary storage test with the 950 Pro configured as a second drive in the test rig, and the PCMark08 Home Accelerated test directly with the 950 Pro configured as a system drive, with a fresh install of Windows 10. Both tests show much more modest improvements to system performance than the raw synthetic results would imply. The PCMark07 score increases by 474 points from 5605 to 6079 for the 256GB 950 Pro over the 850 Pro, or an improvement of 8.4 percent; for the 512GB model, the 950 Pro score increases by 507 points, or 9 percent.

It’s still an improvement of course, but less than implied by the leap forward in sequential transfer speeds and read IOPS.

For a more real-world test, we also measured boot times using Bootracer, with a fresh install of Windows 10 on each drive. The differences are less than a second between the drives, and are therefore pretty much negligible, which is what we expected to see.

They also say it does jack shit.

thanks anon.

peoblem most of these yahoo's think everything is placebo so its hard to get a unbias review
but you have to admit m.2 does look better though and less messy.
>inb4 muh aesthetics
but seriously though it would be ultra cool in a itx case or some thing where space is limited.
>>
>>51242378
I really really want to know why it isn't faster now.
