Either you want it good but non-free, Word
Or you want it shitty but open source, LibreOffice
I use the latter because I don't need much in word processing and it respects my autism

MS Word because you're already running Windows.

LibreOffice Writer is pretty good, why do you call it shitty?
I'd still rather use LaTeX.

Just use LibreOffice. Export to PDF if you need to submit shit (assignments, resume, etc).
It's totally fine, as long as you aren't doing particularly heavy formatting that you need to also share with Word users.
for basic formatting like spacing, header+footer, fonts, LibreOffice opens/exports .docx fine.
If you're using .odt, you're golden and have nothing to worry about other than the fact that no one you're working with has LibreOffice.
As a word processor, its pretty solid. The other portions of LO are kind of shit (in particular regarding shit I routinely use -- why the fuck is Impress so bad compared to PowerPoint), but LibreOffice Writer is fine.

Pick one Hitlerfuck.

Try GNU TeXmacs. Not LaTeX based, but LaTeX like look-wise. It's great for live note taking, even with heavy math due to a nice way of inputting math.
It's a bit clunky with a few gotchas, but I found LyX lacking in comparison.

Everything is just an opinion you fucking retard. Unless all the person is doing is regurgitating the programs specs and what it does (which is not an argument just a fact sheet) then it's an opinion
