Everybody can build good gaming pc with money. Just take all the best parts, throw them together and shitpost consolekiller pc master race shit on /b/. But if somebody will give you 500 dollars and asks you to build solid gaming pc, you really need to know your shit.
Intel pentium g3258 is pretty obvious processor choise because cheap price and easy overclocking. What parts would you chose when its all about performace per dollar?

I'm not going to share a whole build but Intel Q6600 is a fucking awesome processor, given its age. I overcloked to 2.9 ghz stable and that with a good graphics card (my case, 970) I was able to play Ultra preset BF4 at 40 fps. I upgraded though.

But to op - get whatever you can get at the lowest prices HOWEVER do NOT skimp on CPU, PSU, and GPU. That's 75% of your budget. RAM storage and cases are cheap, mobos don't need to be super high end especially at that budget.
While the G3258 is nice for low end gaming, it will quickly show its bottleneck in many recent titles where a quad core is indicated and even sometimes required.

It's NOT a gaming processor, doesn't matter if you overclock it to 5 ghz. Modern games MUST HAVE a quadcore processor.

For budget just pickup a cheap second hand computer like a q6600 or even a phenom x4, if you're lucky a 2500 sandy vagina then buy a good gpu for it. If youre truly budget then you can be patient and wait for the right deal. Picked up a 2500k with a gtx 460, two WD 1tb blues for $320 earlier this year. youd be amazed how dumb some people are. Guy selling it had upgraded to an i5 4690k and needed the extra money to get a 970
