>still using a kernel whose main developer says he doesn't give a shit about security

What's your excuse, /g/?
>>
HardenedBSD with Hiawatha-webserver in a fucking Guantanamo Jail.

Only NSA can hack me :^P
>>
Still better than NSA/Windows

Where's your source, faggot?
>>
>>51232767
>still using a CPU that has backdoors for NSA

What's your excuse, OP?
>>
>>51232767
>letting untrusted code run on your machine
>blaming the kernel
>inb4 exploits
>>
>>51232767
He does care about security, he just despises how many security people think the world is just black & white.
>>
I've wasted years of my life learning arcane implementation details just to get my sound card to work. I'd be devastated if I were to discover that it has all been for naught, so I'd rather stick my head in the sand and believe that there is nothing wrong.
>>
>>51234946
what CPU do you have that doesn't have NSA backdoors

also what proof do you have that this tinfoil claim is true?
>>
it can easily be harden to make it nearly impossible to exploit - grsec for the kernel, libsafe for libraries, ssp for compilers.

he didnt really mean he didnt give a fuck about security, he just sees it as just another bug and that anyone who finds a security hole gets so much attention over it than people fixing normal bugs do.
>>
>>51232767
if you really cared about security. you would compile the kernel yourself and disable everything you don't like.

>still thinking that *bsds are at all usable in production outside of a dedicated firewall box

all intel CPUS since around 2011 are backdoored.

>falling for the OpenBSD meme
>>
>>51236974
any CPU with remote management capability/anti-theft protection is basically a blatant backdoor
>>
>>51237332
not sure if you're memeing hard but you should just try it in a VM

it's pretty neat and the ease of configuration is what sold me, man pages were p. good too
>>
I switched to windows when WIndows 10 cam eout. Haven't gone back to linux yet.

Sorry guys
>>
>>51237357
it's great if you like knowing you can never install anything without breaking the meme security.
>>
>>51232767
I honestly don't know why I am using any computer device.
>>
>>51237384
no shit

literally the more complex an installation of anything becomes, the less secure
>>
>>51237319
People actually use BSD besides PS4 players?
>>
>>51237405
then why do you use OpenBSD when you can't install anything? it doesn't even come with a web browser.
>>
>>51237441
Because I actually don't care about its security since I don't use it as a sensitive server, where mistakes WILL happen as nothing is perfect.

I use it as a desktop, and yes there are web browsers like Xombrero. It's a project semi-related to OpenBSD.

Web browsers, by their very nature, are also unsafe. They're often large, unwieldy software.
>>
Better than windows toy os.
>>
>>51237384
pretty much all of the software i used on linux is working just fine on openbsd now

keep on memeing though
