The icon pack doesn't match up very well with the wallpaper, and I think it would look much better if you hid the status bar and added in a clock widget. Also, there are WAY too many apps there.
All that considered, I actually still think it looks kinda nice, so I'll give it a 7/10.

I really actually like the status bar, its just I haven't found any material based stock rom so I am on factory (HTC one m9). If I had stock Android I feel like I could do a little more. But when the status bar is hidden it takes a couple swipes just to access the quick access area.

I'm trying to do something I thought up earlier, but I'm not sure how to execute it, or if it already exists.
Basically I want like a minimal home screen but when you swipe in whatever direction the background fades to black/gray or something and the app icons come up. The apps are transparent so that you can see your original background through the app icon (pic related).
Anyone know if something like this at all exists or how I could go about making it?

Not add, subtract. You want the styles of everything to match up. For instance get an icon pack, a processes widget that matches your music widget, and maybe a background with less going on or more consistency, Not just a picture with awkward spaces. Finally arrange everything to avoid the big gaping void in the bottom right of your screen.

i would do it with two wallpapers, or one big just as you posted but without the icons of course. some launchers (not sure about nova and apex), maybe kwlp, allows you to have different wallpapers for different "screens", and so it changes from one to the other when you swipe.
