>>
>>51222459

1) go to college

choose wisely
>>
Install kali and shitpost on hackforums.
>>
Thank you. That's actually helpful.

>>
i was more looking for someone to learn with.
>>
Just hack and be a good boy.

What's there to learn?
>>
why not use a kik group such as #toronion we could learn in a group setting that should b faster
>>
>>51222459
Ethical hacking is like saying ethical assassin. Sure governments do it but it really isn't something that has a place if you're doing it ethically.
>>
>>51222649
Send me an email and I'll give you some lessons ;)
I'm at [email protected]
>>
>>51222691

Bug bounty hunting is a thing, you know? It's hacking and it's ethical, you can make money off of it too.
>>
>>51222691
How about penetration testing? Wouldn't that be considered ethical hacking, or would that go under security?

Installing gentoo should be the CAPTCHA for this fucking board, I swear
>>
>>51222459
Not sure if you are still here OP
This should lead you in the right direction, at least.

This is legal

Security overide

Hack this site (founded by an Anon)

Hellbound hackers

Enigma group (by far my favorite, forum and people are great, best and most challenges, spend most my time there)

We chall (advanced)

I am sure I am forgetting a few. I am also not including assembly style hacking sites.

I will post my books when I am not on my phone. Hacking the art of exploitation 2nd edition (with disc) and hacking esposed series are very good starts.

If you want to seriously have a hacking mentor, go to EG, start learning, and find me. If you can do that I will be your personal mentor.
>>
>>51222699
wow how did you get that email address?

DID YOU HACK IT??!?!?!

For an absolute n00b, I would say those are pretty decent and readily available books.

Just curious, what do you have against those books?
>>
I love hackthissite
>>
>>51222860
I have been on it for the better part of the day (today). First time there in over a year.

You should check out enigma group, it is one of the best. Definitely my favorite.

Hack and enjoy. :)

people need to be banned for asking these fucking questions on here

drop the act, op. you don't want to "ethically" hack. you want to ask /g/ for help to commit a crime.
>>
>>
>>51222814
Despite the corny name, art of exploitation is actually one of the better explanations of not only security topics, but assembly language as well. Its certainly beginner level, buts its a great place to start.
>>
>>51222762
Upvoted.
>>
Hey, kid. Wanna learn some hacking?
>>
>>51223377

Thanks kind Anon. Spoken like a true /g/entoomen. The live CD is a must as well. Just buy it. I know it is money well spent.

It is available in PDF. I think a buddy of mine found an .ISO of the disc, somewhere (some years back).

What is your opinion on the Hacking Exposed series of books? In regards to a beginner? (PDFs are everywhere, so no need to buy them. H4x00r them. =p )
>>
>>51223593
so, I'm not as much of a fan of the hacking exposed books personally. I find that they focus on various aspects of exploitation and just gloss over the why. Because they aren't getting into the details of why the vulnerabilities exist and how and why one exercises these vulnerabilities, it reads more like a cookbook than something from which a person can truly build skills.

exploitation is so much more than memory corruption errors and misconfigurations. being able to find a vulnerability and exercise that vulnerability in a real world setting is so much different that it is presented in many books. There is no recipe, and it takes a very in depth understanding of the system in question.

personally, I think art of exploitation, the intel programmers guide, lena's reversing tutorials, various other webpages, a windbg/gdb cheat sheet and a good dissasembler are the only materials needed to start learning about real world exploitation.
>>
>>51223668

I get that. That is a good way to put it. O just recommend them because it gives a good general overview of things, that way one may come across something that they never heard of that peaks their interest.

If that makes sense?
>>
>>51223758
Sure, that makes sense, and I don't take any issue with those books in general. I'm just personally not a huge fan of them.
>>
this has all been extremely helpful. thank you.
>>
I'd say Art of Deception is a pretty important read
>>
>>51222900
Its a little bit different, maybe you should learn the difference between hacker and cracker first...
>>
Ethical hacking is a fancy name for bug finding and pen testing made to sell you an awful cert
>>
www.vulnhub.com has virtual machines you can break into.

You'll either need vmware or virtual box to run it.
>>
>>51222605
If you want really be a 1337 hacker, get yourself a macbook. Its all you need.
>>
>>51226192

>>
Hacking is for wimps, and ethical hacking is even worse. If you ask me, you should get an axe and start doing some real hacking.
>>
>>51222707
You know what works better than that?
Open source application testing. Code auditing.

You're better off googling this stuff bobby.
>>

I did both and actually installing gentoo even helped me to find a job.
But I'm till not that hacker called 4chan
>>
I don't get why people even need to hack? If you don't hack, then no hackers are needed because noones hacks. and you don't need to fix vulneruables

How so, given that supposedly gentoo isn't much used professionally (if at all)?
>>

Yea, what were they thinking giving shipping a Ubuntu live disc with the book. Why not Backtrack, or at least Slackware? Not only that, but they configured Gnome to look kinda like XP Luna, why?
>>
>>51225373
Agreed. The Art of Intrusion is a must read too.
