>tfw a 5W 28nm tablet Mullins APU has 60% the processing power of my 35W 32nm laptop Trinity APU.
Why aren't we seeing more A10 M-6700T laptops and tablets? They would clearly be cheaper to make than core-m based ones.
Intel has a monopoly with OEMs
AMD is finished, they couldn't push APUs hard enough

Probably because of all the arm tablet competition. Yeah 5 watts seems like its not alot but on a tablet it is. 5 watts is what a tablet should be using max including screen, wifi, processor, etc. That way a shitty 3000 mah battery will last at least 3 hours (3,000 mah/1000 mah).
Still a pretty cool apu, im impressed tbh. Probably going to be great for cheap ultraportables.

I really hope zen changes that.

This and the fact that arm cpus have made it really hard for x86 cpus to compete in the tablet world. Unless you made a tablet with a 10 volt battery then there is no way you will be able to run a 5 watt processor on it. I'm not too sure how battery tech works but running more than 1 amp on a 5 volt battery would make it hot as fuck so a 10 volt battery would have to be used. And even then a 10 volt 3,000 mah battery would only provide a mere 3 hours of intensive use.
bump, interesting bread

I don't think 10 volt tablet batteries exist. I always see 3.7 volts specified on them. That means you can only safely output 3.7 watts total of energy at 1 amp. OP's processor would make a tablet asplode from drawing 2 amps (~7 watts) of energy while under heavy load.
>>50826447
Can't you just put two 3.7 volt batteries together then? That would allow the tablet to draw 7.4 watts at 1 amp safely. The APU I posted actually has a max tdp of 4.5 watts, that would leave 3 watts for the screen, wifi, and whatnot. It's not like the cpu would draw 4.5 watts all the time.

Why was bobcat a better arch than bulldozer tbh?
>>50826911
Maybe because jim keller was there to save AMD's sorry ass.
>>50827048
But they were both released at the same time

>Trinity
Remember how the shills were hyping that shit up like the second ejaculation of christ? Same thing with bulldozer and the fury.
Zen will be a piece of turd.
Also intel already has x86 cores in phones that competes with arm in ipc and powwr consumption.
>>50827131
Really? Well then maybe bulldozer were scraps AMD was finishing on and amd hired jim to help develop bobcat. What I can be sure of is AMD is lucky jim came to help. The kaveri desktop chips were alright, especially the 860K. That chips runs like a beast if you can OC it.
>>50827157
Those atom chips are huge pieces of shit though. Yeah they only use 1-2 watts of energy but they can only score like 100 passmark points. Pretty pathetic tbh. I wish phone batteries could pump out more than 3.7 watts of energy. I wouldn't mind a shitty battery life if I could run windows 7 on my phone.
>>50827353
You would if you only realized how shitty the win7 connectivity stack (especially Bluetooth) is
>>50826687
>>50827353
I'm confused, I thought phone/tablet batteries could pump out more than 1 amp of current. Like can't a 3.7 volt 3,000 mah battery give you 3 amps of current for an hour? That should give you like 12 watts of power, more than enough to run OPs mullins processor + screen, wifi for at least an hour.

>Remember how the shills were hyping that shit up like the second ejaculation of christ?
They were so shitty microsoft and sony decided to put them into their consoles :')
