I've done it a couple of times on a few computers. Don't see anything really magical about it.
>>
Did you get stuck in any of the simple steps despite the fact there's a million of guides/forum posts for it on the internet ?
>>
Does reading the guide don't count as "by hand" ?

It's fucking easy.

The hardest part in installing arch is getting an internet connection. The rest is piss easy a monkey could do it.

It's seriously easy. My laptop and raspberry pi runs arch
>>
it's really easy to install but also a very dumb idea to do so

No its really not a dumb idea. Every distro should have laid out instructions on how to install by hand. It makes the distro way more flexible
>>
>>50785859
because we all need to tweak kernel params to browse porn on the internet all day as efficiently as possible

kek. just
dhcpcd &

or
wifi-menu
>>
Just install Antergos lol

Arch doesn't require you to set kernel parameters friend.

>format/partiton disks (fdisk/ mkfs)
>mount partitions
>run a single command (pacstrap) to pull arch base packages
>basically copy and paste the rest of the instructions for some basic userspace configuration
>install a bootloader

Arch is simple to install, and you're not bound to options that are put into some flaky GUI

Having a GUI sometimes gets a lot flak for no reason at all. A good GUI should give you all the options the command line could have.

My problem main problem with GUI installers is usually the partitioning and formatting, debian is probably the best case as a GUI with this. But none support modern filesystems properly like btrfs with subvolumes which is a deal breaker

The rest of the user space configuration might as well be a gui, setting locale and fstab etc, but its still not exactly hard to configure by terminal
