Has any group tried porting android to another kernel?
Android/Hurd would be interesting.

I was thinking more like android/windows
>>50783265
Windows is an OS. NT is the kernel.
>>50782948
Why? The Linux kernel is the best part of Android.

top fucking kek m8
>>50783265
GNU/NT when
>>50782948
They got Android booting off a mainline 3.x kernel some time back, which was pretty fucking awesome. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff was broken. Oh well.

Don't developers port some features from Linux kernel into Android?

Android runs on top of a generic linux kernel, the only real changes are for device specific support.
It's not possible in the large majority of cases to run unmodified mainline since none of that support goes upstream. You start with mainline then merge that device support and fix the massive amount of conflicts and incompatibilities.
the exception is development boards and reference devices that usually get upstream support

Does that mean I can compile a custom kernel for Linux the same as i would for Android? With more cpu governors and energy saving features?
