and they only picked those celebrities because they know that they're still swimming in money even though they haven't put anything new out since their death. in some ways, their death generated more revenue for themselves.

Strong or not, with jobs or not. Apple has stopped innovating since the iPhone came out; they are now just sticking to the same formula "take something good make it lighter and thinner, make two versions one with a big screen and another with a more reasonable size". It works and it makes money but at the same time it has stopped being 'Apple' IBM's nightmare to become an overpriced version of it.
People liked Apple because it had new concepts and innovated; that's gone.

Before he died, Steve Jobs left behind several projects that were in R&D when he passed away. They were the Apple Watch, a much more advanced Apple Telivison and some more vague ideas. Apple is just releasing the last of the Projects. So I would watch Apple for the next 5-7 years. After hearing about the difficulty with the Apple car, Apple might not have many new ideas for a long time, which will hurt them.
