I loved these motherfuckers but the jack weakened and broke within a few moths of use.

What does /g/ recommend for in-ear headphones?
>>
What is /hpg/
>>
Repair the jack.
It's literally a $1 repair
>>
>>47738998
Repair them or buy a pair of jeans the Apple EarPods on eBay for like $6. It's hard to tell which ones are authentic though.

I tried but this is such a pain, I even had it done and then I used thermal tubing and sealed it all up, then I pulled ever so slightly on the cord and it came out :<

Anyway, soldering gnd + red + green only gave me soind out one side, what on earth do I do with the blue wire?
>>
>>47738998
Sony MDR-EX650APT

best bang for buck atm
>>
>>47738998
Buy another pair.

How did you even break them? Mine had a trip through the washing machine and I use them at the gym where they get constant abuse each day, they are still in almost mint condition.
>>
>>47739089
One is for the microphone of course, probably the green, blue should be left channel. Looks like you bought a trs jack instead of a trrs. You could make it work if you don't care for the mic. Otherwise just get a trrs connector

If you like it theres no point buying more shit. Save your money.

I would recommend the shure se215's btw

These right here are just amazing.
>>
>>47739236
Yeah, I have not once used the mic since I've used them so I went cheap on the jack, still the only way to get them to sound was soldering green and blue to GND and left. Strange thing is both L + R produced perfect sound.

Any other combination of cables got me only L or R or faint distorted music

KZ-DT3, or the Pistons 3.

Or just another pair of them, since the Pistons 3 are out now the Piston 2 prices have dropped to like $15 or so.
>>
>>47739453
Straight jacks are such shit on iems.

And these are the kz-dt3. They don't really look good and classy, but they really sound quite good.

KZ also has a bunch of other models worth considering.
>>
>>47739479
I personally definitely prefer them straight, it works better with a mobile phone in a pocket and stick PC.

But you'll not have much trouble finding either an extension cord or just a different pair of 'phones with an angled plug...

are they balanced armature?

Love my xba-c10s, but it seems like anything better would probably not have the same nice fit (they'd all have more drivers so they are bigger). Am I wrong?
>>
>>47739707
JVC is dyanmic driver only.
Dual driver units can be very small, and higher order units can use small drivers that limit bulk.

So what are the best poor fag IEMs?
$30<
So far I'm aware of the
-monoprice $10 ones
-Xiaomi piston 2 ~$20
-Sound magic E10 ~$20
What else?
>>
>>47738998
Then stop using earbuds on moths, it's that simple.

It isnt too hard to fix them (needs to be 4 pole plug)
Or just buy new ones like the piston 3

There is no obvious "best".

But the Piston 2 or 3 will probably make you a little happy from just how they're presented in their box.

And I'll highly recommend the KZ phones for value. I frequently use the DT3 (pretty balanced), ED3 (not much bass, good mids and highs).

[ED8 and 9 also were reported to be good, but I haven't ordered those yet.]

This OP. Just fix it with this http://www.ebay.com/itm/281474904265

Look it's easy to fix. I fixed up my rabbit chewed up MDR-EX300SL's with ethernet wire, but I'm waiting on my connectors getting shipped.

>>47738998
I have a pair of Shure SE215's. /g/ recommended, and they've been fantastic for me since I bought them.
>>
>>47743181
That's actually really cool looking.
>>
>>47742159
I'm happy with the big $10 monoprice ones. I think my next step up will be custom fit IEMs. Someday. If I'm rich.
>>
Etymotic ER4S. Amazing for the price.
>>
I'm using senns cx300ii.
Pretty great, but dont have any other iems to compare.
>>
>>47744767
I have these. I find the bass sounds unnaturally emphasized. The $10 monoprice units are far more balanced. I do appreciate the nice Sennheiser build quality and inequal-length ear leads though.
>>
Klipsch Image X-10s are pretty much the best IEMs you can get for less than $200, and they are $104 right now.
>>
>>47738998
Every IEM is fragile.
Since you don't take good care of your earphones, buy 2 or more (I have one pair for every jacket I have so I always have some with me) of the monoprice 8320/9927, they have a better jack durability, the same cable durability and are cheaper than the pistons. The se215 are too fragile and must be stored in their carrying pouch.
But hopefully, if you buy more expensive headphones, you will take better care of them and they will last longer than the pistons.

you got fakes m8

What's it like using that phone? Is it as weirdly big as it seems in the videos I'm finding of tiny Asian girls playing around with it?
>>
Cheap sennheisers. They are really comfy and I can actually sleep with them in my ears.
