At a similar style of company here in yurop.

There is nothing wrong with dressing well in a startup, it's all about not dressing FORMALLY. Dress shitty if you want, just bear in mind that it's not an excuse to dress like a NEET, real world rules apply.

From what I've heard of Burger startups, they may give you free shit and have a fun activities, but they're absolute Jews about it. Meaning they're totting up the cost of every 'free' pastry you shove in your face on their time. That's what I like about my place, they don't give a fuck about that, they just make it a nice place to work

Also bear in mind that modern startup culture places a big emphasis on work engagement, i.e. being obsessed with your job. Meaning when they say 'work life balance', they actually just want you to make work your whole life. Expect crazy hours.

Overall though, I fucking love working in this kind of environment. It's my first proper job, anything after it will seem boring and uninnovative by comparison. You'll love it, OP, just identify the bullshit when you see it
>>
>>47737647
The thing is that I've worked at huge enterprise monoliths before, and it's not fun. There's much more bullshit hidden behind the thin facade of professionalism.

>According to an R.R. Bowker study, 72% of Japanese consumers said they had not tried e-books and did not want to try them.
An expected reply. A system failure may lead to data loss of e-books and it's not the risk they wanted to run into.

>They use unsupported Windows OSes, and do banking with it
That can be applied to whole work, not limited to Japan

>They have websites looking like those from the 90s
Most of their websites looks like those from 2007 and beyond right now. They only programmed their website with compabilities based on IE. It's their logic on work. "If it's worked on IE, than it'll worked on any browser." "IE are not compatible with flashy bling bling effect so we don't design website that over-decorated."

>They hate ebooks
I hate ebooks too. A real book does give an impression that you have the real ownership.

>They hate streaming services
No they like streaming services. It's cheaper than buying or renting physical DVD and BD.

>They don't give info for NSA but monitor all their internet and punish people that is torrenting with tough penalties
Those peoples who caught are stupid enough to use obsolete torrent client like Winny and seed with ratio above 1.0, not using VPN ( Contrayed to /g/ believing, it's perfectly legal in Japan ) or seedbox.

Lol nerd, the last digit of the binary number is boolean already representing odd and even, 1 = 001, 2 = 010, 3 = 011, 4=100, 5=101, use a pointer to the last bit of the binary address

... right

I just assigned the number as both an int and a float and then divide both the numbers by two, and if they are the same then it was an even number

I live in the bay area, which sounds like it makes me more informed than most of the people here.

All the aggregate shit people will tell you is meaningless. There are really fucking out there startups that soak in every stereotype of California Bros, and then there are normal ones. The only useful advice that I can give across the board is:
1) Dress casually - even a button up untucked shirt is considered dressing nice here. It's technically possible to dress down TOO much, but it's probably a much lower threshold than you're used to.

2) Be prepared to talk about what you do - more people make small talk about the company or project you're working for/on in the bay than anywhere else I've been. Even employees at secretive companies like Google[x], Apple, etc... talk about work - they're just more careful about not revealing anything they shouldn't to random/new friends.

3) Be liberal/progressive, or be insanely wealthy - I don't know what else to say about this. We're essentially a metropolis in a coastal state. If you drive a loud monster truck, you're going to stick out like a sore thumb. If you talk guns a lot, people are going to be weirded out by the obsession. If you have strong religious views, people will distance themselves from you. Religion and all that other shit is tolerated, but this isn't a utopia of disparate political views embracing one another.

> A system failure may lead to data loss of e-books

It doesn't even need to be a system failure - Amazon has unilaterally removed books from Kindles.
if (newpage == lastpage) {
wipeBook();
msg("To read this page, please pay $5");
}

Not even joking - similar code was used by B&N (I think) to up the price of books every time the same visitor looked without buying

mov    %edi,%eax

... retrieves a copy of the original variable (the 'n' in 'n % 2') and stores it at $eax.

and    $0x1,%eax

... take that copy of the variable and run a logical AND against it. The operation of logical AND is that any binary digit in the answer must appear in both the operands. As the first operand is binary 1 ('$0x1'), the effect is that the answer is 1 if the second operand - the copied variable - has the least significant binary digit set, 0 otherwise. That result - which can only be 1 or 0 - is stored in the copy of the variable.

The code then returns (retq)

There's plenty that right and left wing people agree on (or disagree peacefully), but my advice isn't to avoid the boring topics; it's to avoid the hot button issues. The ones that are stereotyped for both sides, where no productive conversation can be had.

You need to calm down. You're reading way too much into this for someone who's ostensibly well-adjusted.
