The new macbook is the metaphorical cherry on the cake for apple, as there is no way you can buy this device and then just be done with it, without further buying into what apple has to offer, the new Macbook is for Apple users, period.
The usability of this laptop doesn't show unless you are fully part of the apple ecosystem, and that's what they're doing, selling you an astringently limited piece of kit, encouraging those who use apple services to purchase one, and those who don't to buy into their services.

The Air is intended to be a highly portable laptop for usage that doesn't require many USB ports during usage. If you need more ports, there are 1 million other laptops that have them, it's obvious that this isn't for you.

I'm not asking questions. You are forgetting that we are talking about the new macbook, not the Air. It al comes down to personal preference. Tim Cuck already said that the goal of Apple is only to sell their products. To Apple, making devices is a form of art, they don't care if it's hardware is underachieving in comparison to other brands. How do you achieve this? Make a product that looks nice, works reasonably well and that is secure enough for the average Joe.
