Sailfish because it's already using a next-gen filesystem, init system, display server and design language.

imo BB10, lack of apps aside,
>Gesture base UI perfected
>The Hub
>Not a resource hog
>Battery efficient (Even on small battery devices like the Z10 I got 18hrs of medium use with a 1800Mah battery)
>The Hub
>Secure
>The Hub is fucking amazing.

Cons:
>Lack of many apps that make it onto other platforms (the apps we do have are really really good though I must say)
>Lack of animations that make iOS/WP/Sailfish fun to use (Android's animations are just time wasting)
>>
Android because marketshare means more apps and more support
>>
Sailfish because muh Freedoms + Design + GNU/Linux hackable
>>
>>47689476
Which are the top-right and bottom-left?

>>47689654
I remember reading a while ago that one of the new(at that time) BB firmware updates allowed for installation of android apps without needing to convert the apks which should mean that almost all the android apps would work on it.
>>
Nothing, they all suck.

I'd go for bbos as >>47689654 anon said
It's secure, it's not flashy, doesn't look childish.

Has a huge drawback of not having apps at all which it compensates by android compatibilty layer which works but works not like you'd want it to work so it hardly counts/
That being said i use a mobile banking app written for android on my bb and i haven't noticed any issues.

What i like about bb are those bult in social media apps like twitter and facebook. They lack few functionalities which is sometimes aggravating and development of them seems slow (like eveything with bb right now) but i like the fact that they fucking work and fb while running uses 16MB of ram and not fucking 120.

also - hub
all notifications in one place and the ability to work right inside that place. It's mint to the point where i wonder why noone else copied it from BB

Sailfish and Tizen.

ubuntu touch is pretty.
I need to plug it once every 2 or 3 days only.
Sadly there isn't a lot of apps. And QML syntax is a little crap.

While I prefer Sailfish, BlackBerry is definitely more advanced because it's based on a RTOS micro-kernel.

hardly. the main difference is that sailfish doesn't run in a java virtual machine like android does.

Do companies change layouts and shit just for the sake of changing it? Like even if the design is perfect they'll still change it for the better or worse for no apparent reason. I guess they just get payed for pointless updates.

They're changing it because of bullshit made up things like having to have the same design across desktop and mobile. I'm just sad because I'm on a 2 year contract and Microsoft is most likely too proud to toss the shitty inconsistent ball of "design" a.k.a MDL2 in the garbage and return to Metro that has been praised over and over again for its usability and intuitiveness on mobile.

> Android because marketshare means more apps and more support

but that's fucking wrong. why does iOS have more apps and better apps?

fallacy of marketshare thinking lies in the fact that majority of that Android's marketshare are shit-tier phones. Less that <20% of phones can run majority of the apps in Play Store.
>>
>>47691679
bollocks ha ha

iOS doesn't have more or better apps, take the dick out your ass.

As of January, there are now more applications in the Google Play Store than there are in the Apple App Store. Further, there exist a number of quality applications on Android that are not available in the Play Store but which may nonetheless be run on numerous Android devices without needing to exploit a security vulnerability on the device.

And the lack of devices capable of running modern applications is the fault of hardware manufacturers, not the OS.
>>
>>47691051
It works fine. Only issue is being stuck with 2g data. I'm always connected to WIFI so I never notice.
>>
>>47691198
>>47691477
I'm curious of this as well. I've been looking into getting a new phone lately and the Jolla was high on my list until I saw it couldn't be purchased in America.
>>
>>47692386

It doesn't support the frequencies used in America for 3g and lte.
>>
>>47692386
Can easily be purchased on Ebay. the one I got was with overnight shipping from India.

But the frequencies don't support 3g in the US
>>
>>47692242
yeah, because Apple removes garbage and other junk. google accepts it all because they think numbers matter.

and for every good app that's available on android and not on ios, there are dozen apps that are on ios and not on android.

android fucking sucks for developers so they're not spending time on it.
>>
>>47692468
>>47692448
Does GPS work over 2g, or is that 3g only? GPS is a rather important feature of a phone for me, but when I'm not in the car I'm usually going to have wifi.

>>
>>47692780

GPS is its own separate thing, its provided for free by the kind US government.

Isn't FFOS pretty much just ChromeOS for smartphone?
>>
Is there some OS that has a lightweight keyboard? I can't tell if it is the scheduler, the runtime or what but android takes forever to load the keyboard. It is a lot worse on slow CPU's but even the fast ones have a large delay every time you open a menu or the search...

And people who claim to never notice this are either lying or haven't used android...
>>
>>47689511
The only /g/ recommended mobile OS. The rest are for plebs and normies

>Isn't FFOS pretty much just ChromeOS for smartphone?
Kinda. It's supposed to fast and snappy but also have all the apps you need, but it's still in a pretty early development stage.
>>
>>47692780

GPS is a proprietary format and uses it's own frequencies for operation; it has nothing to do with any cellular technology directly.

What you want to focus on is A-GPS (Assisted GPS) which uses cellular tower info (provided by the carriers) that works in conjunction with the GPS hardware in your smartphone to get a location much faster since cell towers are terrestrial (read: on the surface of the planet) compared to the GPS satellites roughly 23K miles in orbit.

With A-GPS working correctly you can get and maintain a solid location fix without much hassles. There are other assisted forms of GPS as well (using Wi-Fi hotspot data in a similar manner).

Smartphones today can do pure hardware GPS but they do tend to work better overall with A-GPS (GPS + cellular location data).

Since mid 2012, but I think its because of their "all phone and desktops will get windows 10 free" announcement. Or at least that's why I want to get one, just for shits and giggles.
>>
>>47693958

I don't know but windows phone is around 3-4% market share, while android has over 50%.
