Look at the age of the torrent, the number of seeders, read the comments ect.

If a torrent is 2 hours old, had 3000 seeders and no comments you can be sure it's a trap.

It's easy if you have a remote seedbox (not home server, which is useless), you can pay with paysafe or bitcoin, many seedbox services accept these methods. Then you need only a cheap VPN to connect to your seedbox if you're so paranoid, though many seedbox providers include VPN/anonymous access too.
