I am looking for a 500GB SSD.
>Samsung
no power loss protection in general
840 evo: enjoy your slow speeds after a month
850 evo: Firmware update brick, >buying samsung tlc after what happened with the 840 evo
850 pro: pricey as hell

>Crucial
power loss protection of mx models, but shit crucial warranty and dodgy company

>Intel
King of features, but pricey and >jews

Why is it so hard to find a decent ssd /g/?
>>
My friend's dad ordered one 128 ssd and Amazon fucked up and sent him 10. He sold all of them except for the one and made mint.

So my advice. Get lucky.

Intel drives have been the most reliable in my experience

I've had crucial and kingstons and they all fail pretty quick.

All my Intel ssds are still working
>>
I'd go with a KIngston HyperX 3k mine is going on to 2 years now
>>
What's wrong with Crucial?
>>
OP here
>>47572123
Reliability like >>47572094 said.
>>47572094
Canadafag, Intel 530 and 730 500gb are 380$, which is 130$ more than crucial mx100. Are they worth the expense?
>>
>>47572156
There is literally nothing wrong with Crucial MX series.
>>
>>47572156
M4 going strong here almost four years now. Just make sure to update the firmware. I think they figured it out by now.
>>
>>47572214
They don't update the mx100 firmware anymore, you have to buy the mx200
>>
How fucking common is failure?

t. no SSD pleb

I am very much interested in this too as I haven't built a desktop in the better part of a decade, and of all my builds (and prebuilt laptops) in my life I've probably had 2 HDD failures.

I've been pretty damn lucky with HDD's, now I want to build another desktop with SSD's and upgrade my go to laptop with a cheapo SSD
>>
>>47572248
Most SSDs don't last more than 2-3 years.
>>
>>47572420
Were there even consumer grade SSD's with a capacity over 400gb 3 years ago?

It's still somewhat in it's infancy right? how long will a new SSD feasibly last?

And most importantly what's /g/'s opinion on RAIDed SSD's?
>>

I bought a Samsung 830 500GB SSD in 2011. Christ, dude. Just google it.
>>
Got a 256GB Crucial MX100, upgraded from a Crucial M4 64GB. No issues with either.
>>
How well of SSDs does Corsair make?
