The Canadian Customs asked if I had a smart phone and I said yes. He then asked for the passcode and I asked why. He said if I didn't give it he would charge me with "hinderance". I gave him my code and he and another border guard went through my phone. They looked at my pictures, texts, emails, Internet, and snap chat. I'm in Canada now and I'm pissed.

Anyway, how do i create a bogus profile on my Android phone that can be accessed through a different passcode/pattern at the lockscreen and doesn't betray my real phone's profile?

I live in Canada very close to the border... I cross into the US about twice per month, and I've been doing so for 5+ years.

I've never, not even once, had my phone looked through. Neither entering the US, or re-entering Canada. I've been in "secondary" a few times, where they search your car, but they've never asked about my phone.

Maybe you're all just sandniggers.

Canadian Customs is a joke op, there overly strict at the border yet they allow in thousands of immigrants each year and practically anyone can become Canadian citizen. All i know is that some Canucks just have a massive inferiority complex so the border is there only chance to act tough towards Americans probably the only reason they do it.

Keep in mind Canadian customs exists to protest America. Before the US started adding all kinds of security Canadians were bros, but now they've gotten butthurt that we make Canadians answer questions, so they make travel miserable for Americans now as petty revenge. If you're Chinese, North Korean, or Syrian, it's no problem, but an American business traveler visiting Canada gets a full body cavity search, waterboarding, and all of his belongings destroyed for security reasons.

They're almost as nazi as Israel.

Under Canada’s Customs Act, CBSA officers have widespread powers to stop and search individuals, their baggage and other possessions and devices at any Canadian port of entry, be this a land border crossing, air terminal or sea port. When such searches have been challenged in court, judges have typically recognized that people should have reduced expectations of privacy at border points. In this special context, privacy and other Charter rights are limited by factors such as sovereignty, immigration control, taxation and security.

What you should know:

CBSA officers are authorized to conduct searches of individuals entering Canada, including their baggage, parcels or devices such as laptops, BlackBerrys or cellphones. These searches may be conducted without a warrant.
In addition, officers may examine devices for photos, files, contacts and other media, in much the same way customs officials have broad powers to open, inspect and seize mailed packages being delivered into Canada.

>>47534499

>>
>>47534190
Canada, like many other countries, are annoyed at how difficult US Customs is to deal with. So they get passive aggressive revenge by fucking with people entering from the US. It accomplishes nothing since those being harassed aren't the ones making policy but it gives their politicians a hard on for sticking it to the US... all 0.5 mm of it.

Libertarians want to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
In quite a silly way, too.

The logic is:
Governments are broken by corporate corruption, regulation does more harm than good.
So let's throw out all regulation and let the corporations self regulate!

Shrinking the government is good but the libertarians want to throw out the bath, the bathwater and the baby all at the same time.
>>
>>47531586
Only the american border guards do that, unless you're on a list, in which case you shouldn't come to Canada, you'll probably have a shitty time going back

They regulate themselves TODAY. Who do you think comprises those regulatory boards? 'Derp, we can't have people who aren't experts in the field making regulations'. The free market is, in most cases, better.

Anyway, that's a strawman; libertarians do not want to end ALL regulation. But yes, we are tired of the endless bitching about how corporations run the world. They do it through government and regulation.

I think this should be pretty good, a new profile doesn't know about any files, has its own phonebook etc. You can switch within a few seconds and they won't know that that option even exists.

Just fill the profile with scat, gay porn and traps. I would not put any violent porn or gore on there, because obscenity laws etc.

i wonder where in the world i'll end up to escape this insanity
for now, it feels good to be a yuropoor that's not really poor living in a rich country where encryption is legal

"Free traveling" spergs from ex commie countries which are now in the EU who steal cars, smuggle weapons and break into houses are fucking cancer.

I'd rather have the wall put up again and go through border control every time I had to visit east Germany, Poland or czechoslovakia (which will probably never happen)
>>

You're free to get turned around at the border and moonwalk into Canada.
>>
If you backup and install a clean ROM, it should be okay no? Or do they check your backups?

I am a Canadian And when I hear about this kind of thing I get really pissed. I'm very sorry you had to go through that. Some of the boarder horror stories absolutely disgust me. Anyone with I'll will wouldn't be caught with those kind of tactics anyways.

It's a big country, anon. And there are millions of us LIBERTARIANS trying to END it.

and fighting the NSA "nerthing ter herrrrd" a-holes every step of the way.
>>
>>47537733
Our government started it, I didn't start it.

And if you want to go there, Canada has never been especially good at stopping terrorists. You guys let some sikhs blow up one of your jets back in the 90s and it was an incredibly clumsy plot. We have every reason to think you'd let jihadis into Canada which would mean we'd need to step up security on our end.

Handing over fingerprints is lawful, as it is who you are, such as your identity. It is legal to obtain fingerprints to determine the person who held the murder knife.

Handing over passwords or things that you know is against the law. You have the right to remain silent, you have the right to protect yourself from self-incrimination, etc. It is illegal to provide passwords which could incriminate you.

You have it ass-backwards, son.

>You do not have to hand over your encryption keys or passwords to law enforcement.

>The Fifth Amendment protects you from being forced to give the government self-incriminating testimony. Courts have generally accepted that telling the government a password or encryption key is “testimony.” A police officer cannot force or threaten you into giving up your password or unlocking your electronic devices. However, a judge or a grand jury may be able to force you to decrypt your devices in some circumstances. Because this is a legally complicated issue, if you find yourself in a situation where the police, a judge or grand jury are demanding you turn over encryption keys or passwords, you should let EFF know right away and seek legal help.

Wait, they looked through your VM...
How did they look through it?

If you seriously think U.S. laws and legal advice apply to Canada then you are quite literally retarded.

what do you do?
>>

The solution is to say no then turn around and never try to go to Canada again.
>>
>>47544003
Do my best to circumvent things like this. Every trip is planned around making things difficult for the authorities. For example, my laptop has no bootloader for the OS (I boot to the firmware and manually boot the OS), the firmware has a password, the laptop is a fortress to disassemble, and my Home partition is encrypted.

This is why I never leave my country with my sim card/phone. If anything, I bring a brand new phone and get a sim at the location I'm traveling to.

>Canada has never been especially good at stopping terrorists
Neither has the US.

I mean, there was this whole Boston thing recently and you guys were warned about it.

Truth is, nobody's any good at stopping terrorist plots because they're really hard to stop.
>>
>>47544058
That's just making it harder on yourself.

Just wipe your stuff before crossing any borders and keep your shit encrypted on a private server somewhere.
>>
>>47541284
You are free to turn 360* and moonwalk back to the US
