Do all Vostok amphibia models have the same bezel fit?
>>

>>
>>47515883
No, there's two variants, some cases need the bezel to have a step in the side to make room for the crown. If you're buying one the seller should specify which cases the bezel is for.

Look into ABC watches.
Suunto and Garmin make decent gps ones.
If you want an actual compass that works, get an actual compass.
Suunto has the M9 (pic related) which might be relevant I guess.
>>
>>47517940
Are they more durable or precise?
I'm just entranced by the absolutely smooth sweep on the spring drives.
>>
>>47517988
Digital compasses don't work the same as regular compasses, and need to be calibrated quite often. This makes using them a largely different experience.

If all you want is a compass, you're better off with a simple button compass, as imprecise as it is, it'll be as good as any watch can be, and way more practical.

Well for a start the case is coated resin but it at least looks metallic, that watch looks like the silver coloured plastic you'd find on a knockoff console controller. I got the AL-180 because I liked the solar panel gimmick and the 80s styling, I don't really like the AL-190, the case looks similar to the G-shock design.
>>
>>47518345
I hate how Casio makes silver colored resin cases. Why can't they make fucking steel ones? It's not like there' isn't a demand for it, and that people wouldn't put the money into it.
>>
>>47518033
Id say HIBeat are less durable since more rpms = more wear and tear on gears
>>
>>47518419
Casio is more like an electronics manufacturer that makes watches (among other things) than a watch manufacturer that only does quartz.
>>
>>47518345
But isn't that tiny? I tried the AL-190 on one time and it felt really small even on my skelly wrist. And the 180 seem a bit smaller than even that: >>47516719

I don't know man. I prefer pretty much the exact opposite. Small delicate lugs that aren't an integral part of the watch's round shape.

Also, a little autistic, but I'm not really a fan of the look you get when replacing a bracelet on a watch like pic related, with a leather strap. It's the flow of the sides of the case into the lugs being broken up by the leather.

A nice look, I think, is something like a cocktail time. That's a biased opinion though, I love mine.

Hey /g/uys, I wanna get a casio waveceptor.
Probably this one WVQ550A-1A1V, what does /g/ think?
Also, using calculator watch right now
>>
>>47519193
There's barely any tritium. Also, tritium produces beta radiation:
>Beta particles(electrons) are more penetrating, but still can be absorbed by a few millimeters ofaluminum. However, in cases where high energy beta particles are emitted shielding must be accomplished with low density materials,e.g.plastic,wood,water, oracrylic glass(Plexiglas, Lucite).[3]This is to reduce generation ofBremsstrahlungX-rays.

I doubt any more than a very tiny amount of radiation would escape the watch. It's only a concern for people who have to manufacture the watch or service it or dispose of it.
>>
>>47519193
Tritium is a low energy beta emitter, so it is not dangerous externally. Beta particles are unable to penetrate the skin.
>>
>>47519271
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8l0sUfN89A
>>
>>47519280
>>47519271
When beta particles decelerate quickly, they produce X-Rays. And X-Rays penetrate every- fucking-thing
>>
Had a look at some basic non-chrono Carreras today, pretty nice.
>>
>>47519365
High energy beta radiation can produce X-rays as bremsstrahlung radiation, but tritium is the lowest-energy beta emitter there is. I'm not going to say that there's zero x-rays but I really really doubt it's anything to worry about.

That's it. I don't know how much more it offers compared to a Submariner apart from the anti magnetic shit.
>>
>>47522588
one piece, pretty sure all nato's and zulu's are a single piece for ease of installation and to have a layer of nylon between your wrist and the case backing

so long as it has spring bars (and even my $10 chinese watches do) you'll be fine given the nato is the right width

Need to punch a few more holes in the fairly shitty leather due to a terminal case of faggot wrist syndrome, but not a bad watch for $10.

Why aren't there any autists in this thread or people who has something between their teeth. I mean, this is much more pleasing to browse this thread than guts or /bst/. This is more like enthusiasts versus critics.

Fancy arm hair you have sir.
>>
>>47522783
We're all autists here
Or we wouldn't be here

I saw some video on youtube on that Timex model and he said it was pretty much impossible to use single-straps even though the watch has spring bars. now i'm confused.
>>
>>47521046
Yes, I know of these but I want the one any of you guys6s would go to. I dont want to be fucked. I never even though about taxes and shipping either.

>not 803 or 805
But anyway the correct answer is both.
They're not similar at all though, I don't see how you could hesitate between the two.
>>
>>47522979
that's weird because 99% of all weekenders are on nato straps
>>
I'm kind of interested in getting a Steinhart ocean one, but I keep hearing that the Squale 20 atmos is better somehow. I hate the logo on the Squale and the dial printing is apparently much lower quality, so in what way exactly does it make the Steinhart look cheaper by comparison?

Also why does nobody make a no-date sub homage? Cyclopses are disgusting and I would rather have a lumed 3:00 marker instead of a date window. I don't like the Steinhart OVM or ocean vintage though because the fake patina colored lume looks dumb.

I have a CMD-40 and a DBC62, just keep going through ebay until one pops up. I got both of mine for dirt cheap, though the CMD as it turned out once it arrived had seen better days.
>>
>>47524310
no they come with a pull-through strap that looks similar to a nato but is a lot simpler in its design.
>>
>>47524541
but then everyone puts a nato on
>>
>>47522723
man am I glad the seller I was gonna get that from ran out of stock and I got a refund. That thing's wears like a wall-clock. Should have got the "women's" version anon.
>>47524559
I think you overestimate how many people ever buy another strap for their watch.
>>
>>47523554
Manbushije or wangxiaohong bought from both 0 issues great prices

My latest vintage purchase. I love the dual crown, internal bezel look.

Going to get a perlon for it, but I need to wait until it arrives so I can measure the lug width.

don't know why you don't like the Squale, I think the 50 Atmos is one of the best divers you can get right now. Steinhart looks like a Rolex, so if you think that looks good then all the power to you, but personally I prefer the Squale far, far more.

just to support my statement. the matte steel finish is the best look, imho. they also have it lovely in blue

>>47524891
It's very nice looking, but yeah I like the classic sub look and especially the ref. 14060. I just don't really want to deal with researching and buying fakes and shipping stuff from China so I'm looking at really blatant homages instead.
