Discontinued in favor of uBlock, a general purpose blocker, that not only outperforms Adblock Edge but is also available on other browsers and, of course, without “Acceptable Ads Whitelist”.

things are as they should be. ABP and uBlock are the two major adblockers, and i'm hoping the heat ublock brings, forces abp to improve their extension. otherwise, by the time ublock is completely approved on mozilla's addon site, huge amounts of people will switch.

I don't have to. Go clear your cache, enable uHide, browse around random sites for a while, and then view your cache.

Now do the same with ABP/ABE/whatever.

You'll note that uHide will let ads through. ABP/ABE doesn't. At all.

I mean, seriously, how difficult is this to understand? All you have to do is try for yourself and you'll be a believer.

This is why I am convinced people like you are just uHide devs collecting your ad moneys trying to discredit anyone that dares tell the truth about your garbage software.

You're a fucking liar and a pile of shit. You are the worst kind of person in the world.

I hope you are found out and never given the opportunity to work again. The next ad you'll be serving will be "spare some change, mister?"

I guess I need to write an operating system that uses all the RAM and all of the CPU at all times then.

What's that, you wanted to open a program or actually do something with your computer? Sorry, but since my operating system is already using all of the resources, you can't. If I allowed any free RAM or CPU cycles I'd be wasting them.
>>
>>47512104
RAM being used in a productive manner is preferable to RAM sitting idle. Sticking a giant stylesheet into every page when it's not necessary is not a productive use of RAM.

It's NEVER preferable to use more CPU cycles on a particular task, it's a waste of electricity and time.

I have a question.

I use ABP and on some websites it has a bunch of bullshit elements that say "You're using an Ad Blocker, disable it to use the site, etc." My question is, are there any alternatives that block everything by fooling the sites into thinking theres no ad blocking, or are they all recognized as ad blockers?

uBlock or uBlock0? What will be the long term difference? As I see it after being absent from the web for almost two weeks there was some kind of online drama and now there are two version, with uBlock0 being something of a "LTS" without new features being introduced anymore. Am I right?
>>
That's a shame. I went straight for ABE after finding ads that were not initially visible while using ABP.
>>
>>47517622

Sascha Pallenberg also gave mention to a astroturf account on reddit that was uncovered maybe two years ago.

The account(s) ran a series of websites and articles that appeared at first glance to to be grassroot in origin. They also included many 'user reviews.'

In truth, the sites ran right back to Till Faida, founding partner of Eyeo, commercial parent company of Adblock Plus.

When confronted, Faida, suggested it wasn't him, but that the effort was "clumsy."

Of course, that was b.s.. It was certainly his company creating those fake websites. They were registered in his name.

You can still find some of the stuff on the wayback machine.

We need an add-on which inject pointless big javascript loops in a page just that your cpu cycles are not wasted.
>>
So what does uBlock actually block by default?

Should I use Disconnect with it?

Does it have an element blocker like Adblock does?
>>
>>47519910
It blocks more by default than anything else by default, Disconnect blocks less than uBlock and ublock does have an element blocker

uBlock0 taken down from Chrome store
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues/50

>chrome
>>
>>47518410
As far as I know gorhill (the original developer) is focusing on Chrome with uBlock0, and his fork could become unsupported or unstable on Firefox in the future; the uBlock now headed by chrisaljoudi is the one that will be used for Mozilla add-ons with auto-update. As of the current, uBlock0 is still working just fine for me and still has useful features that chrisaljoudi temporarily disabled because he thought they cluttered the UI and confused inexperienced users, which is asinine.
>>
does ublock work with twitch yet?
>>
>>47520389
Why would you even watch twitch in your browser? It's 100x better using livestreamer or youtube-dl. If you want the chat you can just pop it out.
>>
So does uBlock have filter lists too? Because I also want to block facebook and all other social media which is easily done with fanboys ultimate list and the social annoyances list.
>>
>>47520291
Good luck browsing the modern web in the age of websites that run only with JS enabled for the sole purpose of running tens of trackers.

I too want Lynx compatible websites again.
>>
>>47520454
uBlock uses the same filter lists as ABP, including Fanboy's. You can also take it a step further and just default-deny everything on the switchboard.
>>
>>47520521

Gave it a try, seems rather buggy, I just installed it clicked on it's icon and it just stays in a depressed state and can't be unclicked, is there an element hiding tool for it?
>>
>>47520620
Where'd you install it from? The one on addons.mozilla.org is old and probably has some of the bugs that have since been fixed, they can't update it there yet or it'll be put in the back of the line for getting reviewed.

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases

Also, yes it has an element hider. There's Block Element in the context menu which can be disabled in the options, and an eyedropper in the UI that you can manually select elements with and further refine them by clicking through the list and edit in the text box.
>>
>>47520673

Ahh yeah it was the version from mozilla, cheers.
>>
So what's the difference between uBlock and uBlock0?
>>
>>47520197
keks were had all rund
>>
>>47520735
Oh and in case it wasn't immediately apparent, you have to click the gray bar with uBlock and the version number to get into where all the options are like the filter lists. Might wanna give this a quick skim-through.

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Quick-guide:-popup-user-interface

The rest of the wiki might be worth a look too, especially the part about dynamic filtering if you ever get into that.

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki

What do you guys think of Adblock Latitude?
>>
>I am pretty sure there are tainted versions of uBlock out there, so users can blame only themselves if they install from an unreliable source, which would be anything else than the Chrome store, Opera store, or the Github repo.
Firefox rekt
>>
>However I look at this, the most plausible explanation I can think as of now is foul play: it just does not make sense that this happens out of nowhere with barely any change in the extension's code base/behavior aside small feature changes (cosmetic filter switch + less zealous strict blocking).

That paranoia
>>
