As far as I know gorhill (the original developer) is focusing on Chrome with uBlock0, and his fork could become unsupported or unstable on Firefox in the future; the uBlock now headed by chrisaljoudi is the one that will be used for Mozilla add-ons with auto-update. Where'd you install it from? The one on addons.mozilla.org is old and probably has some of the bugs that have since been fixed, they can't update it there yet or it'll be put in the back of the line for getting reviewed.

Also, yes it has an element hider. There's Block Element in the context menu which can be disabled in the options, and an eyedropper in the UI that you can manually select elements with and further refine them by clicking through the list and edit in the text box.
