Cleaned up the cabling a bit more.
This is as good as it's going to get with this case.
Absolute perfect cable management wasn't top priority with Lian Li regarding this case.
That's okay. I've been watching the temps again and the GPU never goes over ~65 when playing a game.
>>
>>47366972
Buy 5.25" to 3.5" adapters and move those HDDs up, then you go ahead and remove the 3.5" drive bay.
voila
>>
>>47367047
I thought about that, but I would be concerned about them getting too hot up there. Would they?
Also was planning on cutting the rack in half so the top intake can provide better airflow.
>>
>>47367117
>Would they?
Probably not, you'd just be getting normal temps. And SSDs doesn't produce much heat, right?
Give it a shot, move back if you feel like it. Better than cutting the rack IMHO.
>>
>>47367195
I'll give it a go.
They should be close enough to that top exhaust.

But isn't it possible for you to turn the drives to hide the cables on the back?
>>
>>47367960
I really wanted to. I got so used to that with previous cases.
But, that's how my other HDD broke. The bugle all the cables made was just too much, and I used a little too much force trying to make the side panel stay in place.
That bent the rack slightly and busted the transfer connectors on the drive.
A shame, since it had all my music and movies. Oh well, I'll get it all back in time.

Yeah, maybe do that before the extra 980. SLI'd 980s is far overkill for 1080p. I'm maxing out with one 960, even.

>>47373534
Consider it secondary noise dampening, rather than your primary means. You need to have silent fans and rubber mounting, etc to do the majority of the noise reduction. The foam deals with the remaining hum of fans or coil whine.

That said, it has a pretty noticeable effect and since a kit was only $15 it was totally worth it.

Even if it is shooped to fix discoloration or whatever, it probably performs just fine. He's probably getting better CPU temps at the expense of GPU temps, but GPU's (at least nVidia's, from experience) can operate warmer than CPU's anyway.

Switch your motherboard to an H97 model rather than a Z97. The "z" refers to support for overclocking, and you have a locked processor picked. Also, you might want two 4gb sticks of RAM instead of 1 8gb so you can take advantage of the dual channel feature.

Other than that, your choices aren't necessarily bad.
>>
>>47374922
different guy here, but i think the better route would be to keep the 212 evo and instead get an intel processor that is unlocked. anything with a K on the end of the name. not much point in an aftermarket cooler if you aint overclocking i think was his point

Well, seems to be low budget right?
First, you should never be to economical with the cpu.
It's more important then all the other parts.
Choose a i7 in the same price range or better put some money more in it and look that it is compatible with the Mb.
The MB as well does not look good.
I personally would take a Asus motherbord.
Take 2 Ram blocks 4gb instead of the single 8gb and look up if the mb supports dual channel.
The 970 is a shitty gpu, is a 980 to expensive?
It's way better but you could also take a 780.
Can't see the pwu, how much watt is it?

Thanks. Instead of a "SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold" I had to pick "Corsair CSM 650W - Modular 80+ Gold", is that okay? Also the i5 isn't quad core but it has the dual channel you mentioned.

Here's a picture of what it looks like right now.

Not a problem.
You may be confusing HT (Hyperthreading) with actual cores.
Most i5's are actually quads without HT, whereas i7's are the same but with HT (and the appropriate markup in cost).
Some exceptions are lower denominators that are actually dual-cores with hyper threading, under the marketing illusion of quads.
>>
>>47382333

Get something better. Is Seasonic stuff available in your country? How about EVGA B2 or G2 series? Antec HCG?

why in ever-living fuck would you turn your cooler in that direction

Gigabyte put the first PCI slot dumb fucking close to the CPU. Cooler would not fit going the other direction without hitting the first GPU. Feels pretty bad.

Nah, it doesn't. I'd do away with the backplate in a heartbeat if it meant being able to put it in the other direction.

If you put the first x16 slot higher up, you can space out your graphics cards more. That's all he's saying.

The CSM is quite poor in quality compared to the HCG, but 850W is incredibly overkill. 650W is too, but not as jesus-fuck-do-your-research overkill.

Don't let people tell you gigabyte is bad, their budget stuff is sometimes questionable, but their high-end stuff is among the best without killing your wallet. Z97 krait is fine though.

why aren't you blowing air out of the case? instead of blowing hot air in.
>>
>>47387142
He probably has clearance issues if he wanted to stick the rad in the top, especially if he's running fans on both sides. Flipping the fans to exhaust out of the front probably wouldn't work too well either as he'd only have the bottom fan feeding the GPU (the rear fan wouldn't be doing much) and the two front fans would be pulling most of that air away.
>>
>>47387142
>>47387247

Back fan blow in (add filter)
Top fans blow out.
Open up PCI slots for positive pressure and gpu heat exhaust.

Heat problem is now solved!
>>
>>47387440
Flipping the rear and adding fans in the top is pretty pointless, and combined with opening the expansion slots would result in negative pressure (4 out, 2 in) with lots of dust being sucked in.

>>
>>47378728
It seems pretty okay for a small case. The only things I wish for are a fan mount at the front and a mesh at the back.
>>
>>47389067
What would be the point of a front fan mount? The PSU and drives would block all the airflow.
>>
>>47389911
Yeah, it would have to be a bit longer and designed a bit differently. Cooling for the drives maybe?
>>
>>47390143
I think as long as you have the PSU mounted up front like that, a front fan is going to be pointless. The only other place the PSU can be without making the case bigger is over the motherboard, and there are already cases that do that. Of course, that gives up CPU cooler height.

If you want a space-efficient layout that doesn't sacrifice CPU cooling or GPU length, a front-mounted PSU is hard to beat. For the what it's meant to be (small size, good cooling), there's not much that could be improved on the SG07/SG08.

Two intakes over the radiator, two in the front, one exhaust. Top intakes draw air to cool the CPU, front intakes draw cool air into the case, exhaust.. exhausts. IIRC that anon is going for positive pressure to limit dust build up and didn't have really bad CPU temps so it wasn't a problem. >>47373789 is bait
