Post your macbook
My macbook runs strictly Ubuntu, not that BOTNET version of Unix you all use. Not a VM, not a dual boot either.
Don't be pussies.

It honestly runs smooth as fuck. There are some hurdles with proprietary drivers, especially with the webcam but at the end of the day I'm very happy with it. I have a Linux admin class (my 3rd one) and every pussy in there besides the teacher uses VM only and not using *nix as there primary OS.
Teach is a bro, tells peeps to compile gentoo from source, tries to explain their lack of freedom. No one gets it. The only reason they like open source is to get shit for 0$.

I think some of the newer ones can, pretty dope though it's true. This isn't even my thread, and it's basically me in this entire thread. Just glad someone else is here.

I guess kind of. But The OS on the S5 messes this up so by that measure the S5 is shit. It's kinda true, and as an owner of one im pretty pissed that the S6 came out like 4 or 5 months after I just dropped almost 800 out the door. Fuck Samsung.

This is more gay than the vintage Apple logo.
Apple isn't gay because it has blue as the bottom color instead of emo purple.
And yes I do still use it. PPC would be even better if Apple hadn't went to Intel.
>>47357913
With Ubuntu you have to use 2 non-free drivers for wireless and Bluetooth, the iSight webcam was also a pain, had to do some changes to get trackpad working, and swap some keys around. I have '04 macbook though, couldn't t tell you for pro.
Google will tell you how to make it all work.
>>47351576
Unity is Botnet on its own. Any searches you make go straight to them. That being said, i love me some Mate Ubuntu.

Even average users don't require active monitoring or anti virus on Mac. Do they use software that reports their activity? Of course, so do you.
>>47358258
That's because OS X itself is already malware.
>>47359199
When I use it's terminal it sure feels like FreeBSD and a GUI ripped from Gnome...but malware? That's a stretch in my opinion.
>>47351576

How do you know the difference between gay symbolism and vintage Apple logos.
>They're is purple.
Faggots from reddit think the bottom colors are purple and blue, but it's really burgundy and blue.
However later models of Apple computers started going with the gay flag notion.
I like my macbook, even if it's kind of old and slow and the battery bloated up and threatened to explode so it has to live on my desk permanently plugged in. It does its job, and that's all I ask. OS X is a pretty good operating system, especially when augmented with Homebrew/MacPorts.
>>47360151
>One port
You're confuse anon. The Macbook has one port, the Macbook Air has more.
>>47362033
Such a shame that it's so old that you can't enjoy the glorious trackpad. The last Macbook White produced was the shit.
>>47361707
No its not, that is my pic. In the back is Sublime Text 2. Windows running on that, only VM's besides that for that machine. My Mackbook and little gsm/raspie unit are the only things using *nix as sole OS.

Mine doesn't do that, because I'm not a retard and don't leave every application I've ever opened running in the background. In fact, it's extremely responsive, so long as you aren't doing something memory intensive. It would make a great word processor, but it's not great for browsing the modern flash-ruined web.
What is there to post? They all look the same.

the only good things about macs are their laptop features (good battery life, nice experience with a trackpad) using osx with a proper mouse is god awful
>>47359405
dat shitty backlighting tho
>>47362897
the keyboards? The newer ones are definitely better, but the photo isn't what it really looks like in real life
>>47362719
I don't have a thinkpad but I like them and macbooks preciesly because their designs are very minimalist.
Everything else is trying to hard.
>>47362719
I may be the only one but personally I think thinkpads look ugly. I like my technology to look like technology and not some warm lackluster plastic block.
>>47362883
>using osx with a proper mouse is god awful
That's why you should get a Magic Trackpad with your iMac.
>>47363321
>using macshit at all
>>47363321
The tragic macpad is not a good pointing solution. It is acceptable on the laptop, if only because Apple refuses to see the light of the clit mouse (PBUH), but on the desktop you should use a trackball. Multitouch and gestures add nothing; it's faster and more convenient to use keyboard shortcuts.
>>47363380
>the tragic macpad is not a good pointing solution
yes it is
>the light of the clit mouse
absolutely disgusting
>on the desktop you should use a trackball
son, this is bait
>Multitouch and gestures add nothing
yes they do
>it's faster and more convenient to use keyboard shortcuts
not when you are masturbating and have only one free hand
>>47363302
I like the minimalism, but it really feels that Lenovo is just trying to follow the Mac trend. Every iteration of their keyboard design since they abandoned the IBM-style keys has been terrible. Only the most recent pads have half-way decent boards, but, even then, they still have chiclet keys (which I find horrible for long-term typing).
On top of that, they load their machines with stupid bloatware like every other Windows vendor, and I'll never trust the default OS on a Lenovo machine after Superfish.
>>47363413
>>the tragic macpad is not a good pointing solution
>yes it is
I beg to disagree. I can't both type and mouse without removing my hands from the home row using a trackpad.
