We spend too much time talking about distributions and ricing and not enough discussing good GNU/Linux software.

Let's talk about useful programs that make our lifes easier and can't be (or are not generally) used on Windows.

Some recommendations for new users: https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/List_of_recommended_GNU/Linux_software

That list you posted is full of things that are run on Windows, what's your point in looking for non-Windows software anyway?

Bomi. Some anon mention it yesterday and I fell in love with it already, as I watch all of my tv shows on my computer. Had it setup the way I needed in ~10min

It's the glory of mpv sans the autism

Didn't read list, but here's a good one for those who like to do video editing and are missing more powerful tools. If your output options are fucked, you can also always re-encode with FFmpeg.

Looking at what I have installed...

On list:
Mplayer
Every single File Manager (I use PCManFM)
Virtualbox
Abiword

Livestreamer is a useful CLI application to watch twitch streams without the use of flash. I like it a lot!

Fcking do something useful to your PC instead of shitposting, If you need particular program or an alternative, fcking google it first.
>>
>>47333346

Chromes Peppermint Flash is probably the best one right now. I believe you can also use it in Chromium as well, but it's proprietary.
>>

has windows wget and ffmpeg ?

Because flash is proprietary software written by Adobe that everyone decided to use. Just look at Microsoft W indows. It's very easy to be friendly with open-source software, but it's impossible to to be friendly with code you can't see.

I guess you have a room full of computers and do "hacking" stuff.
>>
>>47333016
If it's just for flash animations, Gnash. If it's for shitty websites or video players using flash, Gnash isn't going to help you.
>>
>>47333883

>video players using flash

you mean all of them?
>>
>>47334508
>what is html5
I almost never need flash.

So sad...
