What is this sorcery?

>HBM chip 4 times less capacity
>only 2.5 times smaller
Seems like a flop to me

>High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is what will be used in the GPUs of the future, and at this point the concept hardly needs an introduction. The first generation of HBM will be used in AMD Fiji, a GPU that is expected to come in the next few months.

>AMD uses HBM1, Nvidia HBM2
>Nvidia will use 2nd generation HBM that will enable its Pascal GPU to get to a whopping 32GB on the highest end card, 2.7 times more than the already impressive 12GB used on Titan X cards.

Except Nvidia already confirmed it won't use HBM until 2016+

Yeah hate to say it, but since the 390x is fucking 28nm still (supposedly) I'm skipping it. If the next Titan is a 32 gig beast I'll buy one.

>current titan has 12GB

>>47113921
Why skip if 28nm? If it's objectively better in every way except that (which we don't know yet since it isn't out), would you still skip it?
>>
>>47113906
Yeah, because HBM2 will be ready before the end of 2016.
What's even funnier is TSMC having their finfets ready by then.

My 290x is a 28nm and I don't NEED to upgrade yet. I'd rather waste the money on a 4790k or even a Haswell-E build replacing my 8320 than on another 28nm GPU.

>>47113944

When the time comes I won't give a shit. 28nm is the only thing stopping me from buying the 390x or Titan X. Gains aren't worth it for the games I play and waiting for an actual fucking GPU upgrade will make it even more worth it already having a 290x.
