Man D. Knuth looks like age is treating him well. One of my favourite comp scientist.
>>47043493
CLRS is based on his books. The art of computer programming. I had hard time comprehending Knuth's book coz too much Maths. Any advice
>>47043513
Well the only decent advice I can give you is learn math. Comp sci is a part of pure math after all.

My family hates me for going into software. My friends don't care about it. I just kind of bumped into software engineering in first year engineering and loved it. I don't care about trends, but the popularity of the major does concern me.
The thing is that everything is saturated now because you MUST go to uni and you MUST get a degree to just fucking FEED yourself, so who cares at this point.
I'm doing what I enjoy, what no one else has chosen for me, and I am having fun doing it.
i wonder what took Knuth so long to release vol4?
i really doubt he'll live to release all volumes
>>47043493
Have you seen him in computerphile? If not, check that out
>>47043468
How long will it take for me to completely understand all four volumes of Te Art of Computer Programming?
turing really did look like a poofter
>>47043636
Is there more after 4A?He is already 70+
>>47043636
Dude combinatorial and probability theory are toughest of Maths. I believe he had trouble grasping everything up at a single time. I cannot remember stuffs unless I read them every morning.
>>47043675
i heard he plans 7vols and just vol5 is released in 2020. I don't understand why he waited for 40 years until vol4a
It should be 26^24=9.10668577 × 10^33

Forgot pic
>>47043712
Coz he was hired by NSA to do analyze Alien's UFO computer System at Area 51. This is Monrsor23 speaking.
>>47043769
>Monrsor23
wat?
>>47043468
How the fuck can a man be so based, holy shit
>>47043769
Troll detected.
How long would it take to read all his books?
>>47044359
Read or understand?
Read: month or two
Understand: life or two
>>47044526
Understand of course. It's not like it's a novel.
>>47043468
I haven't watched this yet, but this thread doesn't deserve to die to make room for more shit.
>>47043468
>tells people to go against the grain
>Hipsters not allowed
>>47046634
That's because js and ruby hipsters are the majority.
Why the hell did Knuth spend all his life writing all those shitty books that only 2% of people in the whole world can understand instead of building more useful things like TeX?
>>47046730
because the people who build meaningful things need good learning material
>>47046730
The utterly good shouldn't fritter their time on tools that will fade in time, but instead pass on what they can to others
>>47046730
Just because you failed math doesn't mean it's the book's fault
