Considering this is the fastest port and also provides a shit-ton of power, does that mean we will eventually be able to connect an external video card to it to beef up our laptops' graphical power?

This. The only reason eGPUs work with thunderbolt and expresscard setups is because they're just exposing PCIe lanes in a different way. This is a grossly simplified explanation but it covers the basic reason it works.

Why? Are you at home? Just use your desktop. Are you traveling? Then just wait until you get home to charge it, you've got like 9-10 hours to use it before it goes into sleep mode if you absolutely need to use a mouse. Although, the whole point of a laptop is to be portable, why would I bother defeating that purpose by insisting on carrying around extra gear and cables to use it?

A trackpoint literally requires zero finger movement, just a little pushing. All trackpads suffer from requiring finger movement.
>>
>>47036386
more area to touch, more area for multifingered gestures, etc.

My Magic Trackpad is ~70% larger than a MacBook trackpad and I still have the sensitivity turned up 3x past the max in System Preferences.

Just use one and you will know. It's pretty neat to have a large trackpad. Apple's trackpads are probably the one thing they do best in the industry the most undoubtedly.

i spent more than $7k on apple products in my life. i had a powermac G5, which was AMAZING and at the time was the best workstation available for any amount of money. i bought 2 macbooks, the mk1 2006 model (which was already expensive at $1200, but i didn't care cause i got 6 hours of battery when other similar laptops had 3, i had the magsafe, a good dual core CPU, and a very good design) and an unibody MBP, which was okay (but i preferred my MK1 macbook). i bought the first ipod touch. the first ipod nano. the first ipod classic. so i am NOT biased against apple.

today ? i won't buy any more apple stuff, because i think you'd be absolutely retarded to do so and apple fucks its customers in the ass. the new mac pro is a turd and looks like a trash can. the iphone is absolutely useless when i can get a $200 chink phone with full HD, 8 cores, dual sim, 2gb of ram and a removable battery and micro SD slot. (i can buy a new phone every year for 4 years and it'd still be cheaper than a single 6+) ipods are now useless because phones. and the macbooks are just a bad joke. $1500 for a 1.2ghz dual core and no usb ports ? nope nope nope nope

apple used to be worth the price because they did stuff better than other brands. now ? they don't need to because retards will buy anything they make even if it's shit. so FUCK them

PCIe 3.0 1x transfers data at 1GB/s which would be 8Gbps.
USB 3.1 does 10Gbps as its theoretical max, which it probably wouldn't get to in real world use. So there's a possibility that you could see some kind of external GPU, but it would be limited in speed.

I use a macbook at work. My clients would not be happy with me if I used anything other than an apple product (people do it, but that's not good business).

I frequently need to plug in a usb to serial adapter to serial into servers. Sometimes I will also have to plug in a monitor/keyboard (so I use a virtual crash cart). I also occasionally need to access the server via ssh/network so I have to plug into ethernet.

That's 3 USB devices I would need to do my job, and my macbook only has 2. Luckily I found a USB ethernet adapter with 3 USB ports. Also if I unplug the USB to Serial adapter with Zterm open, it will more than likely crash my computer, so I do have to be very careful.

I think that the single USB-C port, provided it split into at least 4 USB A, Ethernet, and Power, would be OK with me.
>>

You don't even need to hook it up if you just leave the ethernet cable connected to your USB hub. You will get that speed simply by pluging in into one single connector, together with keyboard, mouse, power, external monitor and audio.

Think about it, you don't have to connect 6 fucking connectors when you come home and leave. You could already do that with thunderbolt, but the adapters were too expensive and didn't deliver power. This is now solved, usb TypeC is an open standard, there will be more adapters and cheaper ones, this is the future guys, just wait a few years and everyone will do it like that.
