Surely you mean the K6-2 series. It was AMD's answer to the Celeron, taking their Pentium II class chip, clocking it up, and removing some cache.
The problem was that it had no on-die L2 cache at all, leaving much of your CPU performance up to the motherboard manufacturer. I had a Compaq Presario with a K6-2 533MHz, which I swapped into a cheapshit Microstar motherboard because the Compaq had no AGP ports and I had recently acquired a Radeon 9000. It ran Deus Ex worse than the Compaq's Voodoo2 because the mobo had no external L2 cache.
It was always more than enough for C&C, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Alpha Centauri, though.
