ITT: Tech that changed the world.

>>46965951
See, that's what I mean. Steve Jobs invented the transistor
>>46965085
Changed the world as in killing off most of the good high end players.
Think about it
>stealing already available technology, putting it into a retarded hipster case and charging double the price = "changing the world"
Apple marketing victim logic.
>>46965951
BASED AMERICAN ENGINEERING
YUROPOORS ARE YOU EVEN TRYING?
more of a /k/ thing but firearms could be considered tech in this case, right?
>>46966066
They definitely changed the world.
>>46966080
Pretty fancy fingerbox you got there.
You know it's true
>>46966337
the iPod touch maybe, that pretty much invented apps
>>46966014
>vidya gaems
>changing the world
It may be the best handheld but it hardly changed the industry. I guess it started the "media player" trend in consoles
Soap and disinfectants in general really actually changed the world.
Muh chamfered edges
>>46966337
Yeah well nope fuck off. Windows Mobile touchscreen devices had been around for years by that time. Apple only polished the concept by making 'smart' devices available for every cunt on this planet
>>46966396
This.
> applefags think that ipads changed the world
>>46966482
>Making technology actually usable and accessible is not important.
Yeah keep telling yourself that, king of neckbeards.
>>46966337
wasn't it pretty underpowered for the time?
camera was fucking awful too
Every single Apple product.
>>46966482
>Windows Mobile touchscreen devices had been around for years
Too bad nobody wanted or needed them.
>>46966482
>Apple only polished the concept by making 'smart' devices available for every cunt on this planet

kek
That's how you change the world, m8.
Prove me wrong.

>>46966597
you aren't wrong
stalin has also changed the world
>>46966359
Its not just about the video games
Its what the psp is also capable of
>>46966750
I don't think running SNES emulators counts as "changing the world'

>the iPod touch maybe
But not the iPhone and the complete surge of multitouch phones that came afterwards?
>>46966482
>Windos Mobile touchscreen
Not multitouch and not consumer oriented.
Apple did more than just "polish" it off and market it. They did a complete overhaul of the traditional touchscreen smartphone interface.
You're going to tell me Windows Mobile would've brought smartphones to this stage if Apple didn't introduce the iPhone?
>>46966536
Yeah but it was still pretty remarkable and influential on later smartphones at the time.

Makes me laugh that the icons on iPhone OS 1.x are generally better than those on iOS 7+
>>46966042
Agreed, I couldn't imagine the world without doughnuts
ITT: one fanboy shitting up the thread with apple pictures
rest is posting real tech
>>46966337
>that nice fat plastic back that held perfectly in your hard
It only went backwards since then.
The Global Positioning System
I'll also add Special Relativity, though it's more of a theory that a technology, without understanding that the satellites are going slower in time the GPS wouldn't work. It's such an unappreciated theory.
Dubs changed the world
>>46967436
Fuck off skeuomorphic cunt.
everything else would follow suit
>>46969141
No apple fag. The new iOS icons suck. There are themes on cydia that are better than the iOS 7/8 icons and also have a flat "feel to them"
>>46969423
Not even an Applefag, but the "HURR DURR BRAUN CALCULATOR AND LEATHER STITCHING" skeuomorphs were fucking gaudy as shit.
>>46966337
dat dock style
>>46966014
The true pioneer. It had more games worth playing too.
>>46965951
Electronic retard here. What's the difference between them?
>>46969982
One alternates current at 23mhz between gefjun resistance units, and the others at 46mhz between absolute boolean transistors.
>>46969727
Kek
>>46966750
Multitouch sucks for gaming. The problem with putting good games on phones is that most people aren't going to go out and get a shitty controller attachment for their phone, or a battery attachment.
If these somehow became standard, or if there somehow became a market for gaming smartphones, things could change. At the moment, phone games are still at that stage where they're glorified flash games. Plenty of indie and major games out for both iOS and Android, but surpassing the PSP in hardware hasn't yet been acknowledged as a feat worth giving a shit about.

remember this beauty?
>>46969631
>those eyes
does Mickey say "Zalgo, he comes" every hour?
A mechanical clock.
It standardized time and time measuring, made people able to rely on technology more than nature. In the old nature vs society and technology dualism, of course.
>>46973460
Is that apple's coffeemaker on the left?
>>46966597
Of course, you can say that from every major windows version.

Ah, the good old days. Make a new Skype account just by clicking one button them typing an email address and putting in a fake name. Getting a free phone call with every new account made the whole thing so very exploitable.
I still have an N800, N810, and N900. Fantastic devices.
>>46973780
Look at that mac pro prototype beside it
>>46968962
Well, space flight and satellites generally, have been very influential recently.
I would add the printing press, the telescope, vaccines and antibiotics to the list, not to mention the biggest one beyond any doubt in my mind --agriculture. Without that, we would really have very little.
its true though
before ipad people would look at you funny if you had a tablet (mostly because pre-ipad tablets were huge and awkward and didnt have multi touch)
>>46969982
The point of the image is not the difference between them - it's just a pic of some random transistors. Transistors in general is the point.
Dial-Up Modem
I don't even know what an integrated circuit does, but I love close to TI in Dallas
>>46976171
>8010
>changing anything
Who the fuck even bought them outside of universities and maybe a few big publishing companies?
>>46976440
they changed the world by influencing apple to copy them
>>46976511
the 8010 was introduced after Apple used their ideas from the Alto, m8
and it was an absolute failure that changed nothing because it was an expensive piece of shit
>>46976528
the truth is I used that image because I was just pasting image URLs from wikipedia into 4chan x, and all the images of the Alto looked terrible. So I just used the one for the STAR because all I'm trying to say anyway is that xerox invented the GUI
>>46966018
>being this paranoid.
Apple haters are everywhere. What is it like to be a fanboy?
You think you're important. Cute.
>>46976453
Yes, it helped to kill many insects that spread diseases.
First effective semi-automatic pistol which pioneered blowback design.
>>46973460
