So I got $500 to build my little brothers friend an entry-level gaming pc. He said I could keep whatever money I don't spend. He wants to use it primarily for Gmod and games like that. I don't want to skimp out too much trying to make money off of it, I want to get it to play BF4 at the most. Is an a10 5800k build good enough? I was trying to hover around the 300-350 price point but I don't wanna butt fuck him for it.

Read the sticky.

>I don't want to skimp out too much
>is a $300 build enough?
>keeping literally 30% of his money for yourself

you're an idiot
>>
>>46923262
He told me he doesn't want me to do too much with the build and is fine with just gmod. I want to build him something better than that because I know building a pc isn't worth $200 of service.
>>
>>46923275
Read the sticky then
>>
Give the kid a 1150 socket at least.
>>
Why don't you build him something with the potential for upgrades and expandability then

is a much better idea

>1tb WD green
off the top of my head, it'll play bf4 on high at 1080p decently.
off the top of my head, go for whatever HDD/SDD you believe to reputable. as for the case, that's up to you, there's alot of good cases around the 50-80$ range. if the list sucks some anon will correct me, or not.

all together should cost you around 330 dollars if you go for a case that's worth 80 bucks lol.
prices will vary depending where you buy, i got prices from JewEgg.

anons will shit on me but idc its from the top of my head that could do whatever you said.
>>
i really don't think $300 is enough. you COULD do it for $500 if you really skimped and reused some components (such as the case, hard drives, etc)
>>
>>46923246
>$300
that's between horrible and garbage

if you REALLY dont care, dont worry about pocketing any of it. give him a good first expierence with pc gaymen, not you being a jew and him later finding out and not being friends with your brother anymore/ moms being called ect.

build related, its you not being a jew. especially considering you arent even the one selecting the parts.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XbvFyc

if you really want the money that bad, get him a 260 or 750ti or some shit.

dont be a faggot and keep less than 100 dollars for yourself..

A10-7850K
8gb ram
250gb ssd and / or 1tb hdd
350W ok brand but cheap psu
>>
>>46923246
I dont know if you are a nigger or a jew, or worse, a nigger AND a jew.

On to the topic, You cant use an A10 to gamin' without a beefy heatsink, add a 212 and maybe you are set.

btw I have an A10 5800k myself (Paired with an HD6670). maybe you get to play some stuff on medium, but anything graphics intensive will suffer qith the APU alone.

>>46923896
maybe "he" didnt expect this fucker to pretend to get 200 to himself

This.
Well, since he's going to play GMOD, a 280 is A LOT FUCKING MORE THAN ENOUGH
So you could pick a card that cost way less

(Currently playing GMOD on my Intel Celeron G1840's chipset. FPS not stable, but most of the times higher than 30)

Cheap and qusde 730k or fx4300? Cheap mobo with CPU socket, 8gb ram 750ti or older GPU you can find cheap, cheap case, 500w evga PSU, cheap HDD.

Done thank me later op
>>
>>46923389

Why would you recommend an Nvidia card that'll be playing mostly BF4? A GCN based GPU to use the Mantle API would be best when talking about an entry gaming PC
>>
>>46923262
>30% of his money
He's keeping 2/5
2/5=40%
>>
>>46928089
Why would you recommend ATI or AMD?
>>
>>46928109
Not that anon, but I think he's saying that the AMD card would work better due to GCN having improved compatibility with Mantle.
I'm not sure if that's true or not but that's just my thoughts on the matter.
>>
If I hear another retard recommend a CX series psu I'm going to kill myself
>>
>>46928138
So based on his logic, the kid will only be running Mantle shit? It's retarded, AMD and ATI fell off this generation and nobody can argue that. Get an intel cpu and an nvidia gpu unless you're just that delusional.
>>
>>46928089
Do you even read? He'll be playing mostly gmod. At any rate, i wouldnt touch ati or amd with a virgin dick, not right now at least.
>>
>>46928171
Yeah, I don't know about recommending Nvidia constantly though, AMD/ATI can have some pretty good deals, although you'd have to thank Nvidia for that too, eh, maybe they'll do something amazing with the 300 series.
>>46928150
What's wrong with CX PSUs? I don't personally own one but aren't they at least decent for budget builds?

Tell him to pick out the case he wants and you're all set. If you want drop the SSD to keep it under $500, otherwise picking a case he wants is going to keep him under $600.
>>
>>46928263
>What's wrong with CX PSUs? I don't personally own one but aren't they at least decent for budget builds?
They're cheap chinese crap sold as if it wasn't.
Which sucks because corsair PSUs were damned good before they started shitting out CXes.
>>
>>46928263
I recommend Nvidia constantly, using it since a radeon 1600 fried back in 2006. Never had a problem, just bought an strix 980 and it's demolishing everything i throw at it, has me looking for more gpu intense mods for my games, not saying ATI shit is bad, my experience with Nvidia has been phenomenal so I recommend them.

Recommendation kind of sucks though, I got RROD'd on my 360 7 fucking times, so to me the Xbox is the biggest piece of shit on earth but to people who never had that problem, they love it. Just buy what you like and fuck what people think, basically.
>>
>>46928351
>ATI
>>
>>46925353
Nice.
However 500GB HDD would prolly be better for this kid, and even 4 or 6GB RAM. Either way, you hit the limit and got a decent build built.
>>
>>46928373
Any true Radeon fan will always consider them ATi's at heart.

So many warm, fuzzy memories of America's Army 2... The days when a F2P game had absolutely zero microtransactions...
>>
>>46928391
Its illogical to buy sub 1TB drives now. The price difference for double the space of a 500 GB drive is negligible.
>>
>>46928423
True enough, but he did specify it's pretty much exclusively gmod which cuts any real need for excess space out
>>
Op are you Jewish?
>>
>>46928373
please see >>46928396

Thank you anon, it will forever be ATI, always.
>>
>>46925283
Better, except the Gigashit board

I recommend an i3 build, he can upgrade later, otherwise BF4 should run on mid-high. AMD is better for budget builds, maybe a 280X.

Dont buy OCZ SSDs, maybe 850 EVO, better 1-2 TB SSHD for the start.

>not 8gb ram

Jeez brah.

Use the rest of the money on another 4gb stick. It's literally the bare minimum these days on any PC that wants to play games.
>>
>>46928514
But that still should leave over 400gb free after OS and necessities
>>
>>46923246
i3, 750ti, 8gb ram, $50 board, 450w psu

You can do this for ~500.
>>
>>46923246
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ln4kyc

1150 so down the line you can upgrade to faster processor with your chirstmas money or whatevs.
>>
I build PCs for a living, we charge $70 for cable management, os install, and drivers. What you're doing is highway robbery. Get him at least a 7850k you cheap fuck. That'll actually be able to pay bf4.
