Gf wants a new phone, she's coming from a moto g, and I suggested the moto e since it's cheap and on 4G. Apparently the camera is a big deal and she wants to go towards moto x. What's a better option?
>>
>>46918902
Moto E is flawless EXCEPT for the camera, which is shit because it has no flash.

Why is she leaving the Moto G, what's wrong with it?
>>

She told me she is not getting any texts from her sister, like not delivering at all her sisters on Verizon and she's on straight talk, probably some setting error. But still the phone is slow in general and 3g sucks.

I've got a laptop with a broken audio jack so I need a USB device to route the audio.

Did she previously use an iPhone? You have to let Apple know that you're switching, otherwise other iPhones won't send text messages to your new phone.

Looking to upgrade my GPU as my current one (a Nvidia Quadro 2000 I got from a business going bankrupt a few years back) really isn't able to keep up with my video editing, multiple monitors, and the few games I still play.

Debating between the 290, 290x, 970, and 980 but they all seem to not suit my needs well. AMD cards can't use CUDA for Adobe Premiere, the 970's

I would like to recommend the ideapad z40 for anyone looking for an ultrabook in the 500-600 dollar range. It runs amazingly cool, the screen is 1920x1080, the graphics card (yes, a dedicated gtx820) is powerful enough to run 1080p 60fps on youtube and run most games on low, and the build quality is thinkpad tier. I took it apart and it has room for msata, a new ssd or harddrive, and the fan to the cpu is easily accessibly to clean or whatnot. I'm very pleased with the quality of this ultrabook.

If anyone'd be willing to help me out:
I'm an IT student with a shitty Asus laptop which is literally falling apart, and I'd like to purchase a new laptop, since I have to run multiple VM's at once (Windows Server 2012 R2) I'd like to get a decently powerful PC with enough RAM, atleast 8 gigs, preferably upgradeable to 16.
I don't care about HDD space since I'll just put an SSD in, neither do I care about CD drives.
1920x1080 is a must, decent build quality is too, since I'll be dragging it to class daily, i7 would be nice too.

I'm from the Netherlands and I'd be willing to spend up to 1300 euros, but preferably under 1000 if possible.
I don't mind spending more if I will really get quality stuff.

any thoughts on the how the a10-7300 would handle solidworks compared to something like a 2nd gen i5 with hd 3000 or 3rd gen i5 with the hd 4000?

looking at some used laptops right now for school. was thinking of trying to get an x220 or t420 and upgrading the ram and putting in an ssd. then i saw some deals online at 400-500 that had the a10-7300. i know the old thinkpads are from 2011 and use full voltage chips, and the a10 is kaveri based and low power - but it's much newer.

Sounds like you want a Dell Latitude.
http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/Online/InventorySearch.aspx?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb&brandid=2801&fid=6954

The Latitude E7440 is an "ultrabook", but it is still a Latitude. You can still change the hard drives or add RAM or whatever.

This is coming from a guy with a hugeass beast of a ThinkPad with a quad core i7 and a Quadro K2000M.

If all you cared about was performance, you'd have to get a laptop from 2012, because the third gen Intel Core i-series was the last one where Intel focused on performance.
>>
>>46924739
The newer once are much slimmer, i get your drift. I still have a R40 laying around and weighs about 4.5kg's so portability is a no go, but newer models like the T540 are pretty good.

Otherwise the Latitude series are currently the best price/performance/reliably laptops out there right now, the 7440 is a good example but the processor is a tab bit weak.
>>
>>46924754
*note that all i5s and entry i7s come in dual core varieties
For a quad core i7 you'd have to push into the 15.6" kinda-thick range

I need some pointers here..

Im going for this dell XPS 14 2013 edition.

It comes with a 3rd gen intel core i5 3317u and an nvidia geforce 630m.

Goes for about $500 used.

Im planning on using it for GNU/Linux and maybe some light gaming.
