This is what Firefags actually believe.

because it takes almost 3 seconds to restart the browser and automatically reload all the pages I had open before

yes, better switch to some chrome that runs like 3 billions processes by default +n processes where n is the number of pages I have open

You can insult all browser, opera, firefox, icecat, aurora, linkx, lynx, Chrome is and still remain a browser taking all your information and more.

Chrome=shit.

Yes you do. I did.
>>
>>46912885

The simple fact is that low bit depth on color channels do severely limit the actual amount colors you can display in a single image. 128 bit color, which I would take to mean 32 bit per channel RGB + Alpha, is of course an absurd amount of color, but something like 12-bit or 16-bit per channel rather than the current 8-bit would create a noticeable difference and plenty of people who are seriously into display technology know that.

Bit depth is NOT about UV and IR.

Now he does says a lot of things. But the general point is that bit depth is important to more closely approximate reality on screen. The reality is that the cutting edge of digital photography cannot yet be seen by any display currently available, at least not by consumer grade displays.

Say you go to Vegas and take some photos the displays we have today can't actually display neon light as it is in reality. Like, yeah we can recognize a neon light as a neon light mostly because we know what a neon light looks like but if we were to make a real life comparasion between a photograph of a neon sign being diplayed on a TV with an actual neon sign being right next to it, nobody would argue about which was the actual neon light. However if a high enough bit depth and good enough displays technology, people would actually have a hard time deciding.

I've never needed to compile either Firefox or Chromium on any platform. Firefox has a self contained generic Linux build that works on pretty much any distro. Untar into a directory in your home, create a shortcut, and done. Chromium, when I use it, I've generally just got out of the package manager.

My best guess is it's monetary. A dirty port to 64-bit would be unacceptable for Mozilla, but the time and money going into a proper 64-but mode would probably outweight the benefit gained from doing so.

It's like why some environmentalist organizations still have punch-card computers and why walmart still uses dial-up to register your fishing license.

>Bit depth is NOT about UV and IR.
It was meant as an analogy.

Interesting point about neon lights, although I suspect the neon "effect" can't be accurately captured and displayed using static images.

My point was, as someone said in a different thread, people can't distinguish between too similar colors (something about delta E < 4), so I see no reason for displaying them differently.

As a comparison, I can't tell the difference between an LG G2 (1080p) and LG G3 (quad HD) displays, at a reasonable distance.

Future technology may prove me wrong, though.

How's it a shitty patch? AFAICT it's a 64 bit adaptation of Win32, with a thunking layer to support 32 bit processes. Only really idiotic part is naming of a few things, like 64 bit stuff being in system32 and 32 bit stuff going in syswow64.

Do you have 64 bit Java? The online installer thing from java.com feeds you 32 bit regardless of what Windows you're in.

There are literally no benefits to making firefox 64bit.

Make a gradient from black to 100% green all the way across your screen. Unless your gradient tool is set to dither, you'll see steps.. Our eyes can see more than 256 steps between black and a full intensity color. This is the value of 10 bit color. I'm not sure if anything past 10 bits has any value other than having excess fidelity during editing.

32 bit Java.

It usually works, but sometimes crashes the tab. Upon reloading, the documents are signed, though.

Can't really pinpoint the cause, but it's not about 32/64, it's some bug in Dev. Edition. It crashes on 32bit version too.

Windows 8 comes with Segoe Emojis, which is why it can display these correctly. Window 7 doesn't, so Firefox must have a monochrome fallback but in or something.

For a web browser it means practically nothing but Firefox can be compiled to a 64 bit executable, so it's just a meme.

I have one plugin installed (BF4 plugin).
Only addons are Tampermonkey + uBlock.

I might be the only one doing so, I don't care, but I have a few less important (important to read/use them, but not to bookmark them) webzones "remembered" in the last session recovery thingy in FF. Each time I'm turning the browser off I need to go back to the start page and recover them so they could be remembered again for the next day, when I do the exact same and not read them for one more day.
I fucking hate myself for doing so, but can't stop.
