The weak candidates filter themselves out of the process by being disheartened at the entry requirements.

I think in my country company that's hiring you can look into your past jobs by looking at money put into your retirement fund. We don't have private retirement funds so it's only public one where it clearly says how many months/years you worked and where and how much money was put from your salary into retirement
>>

Come on OP, this is the oldest trick in the book. Just apply anyways. They mostl likely don't give a shit about that number if you can show that you are a capable learner and that you know the technologies on your resume

I made the decision to just "apply anyway" almost exactly 1 year ago. Since then my pay increased from $0 to $20/hour to $25/hour to $55k/year+benefits and plenty of room to advance within the company.

Just do it. Know your shit and always continue learning.

What you found is a H1B bait job advertisement.
When companies like this put out job adverts, they put in quite extravagant requirements when they already have the person they want in mind already. They go through the motions of looking for people so they can reject them all and say to the government "Well we looked" to get some cheap indian who'll work for minimum wage.
Or some guy's brother.

That's the thing about a decline, it's slow at first. your wages don't go quite as far, you can't go out as much, you stop traveling. You notice more things are made overseas, and more people work in the services industry. The rich are richer than ever, the economy overall is doing well, it must just be you, but it isn't, it's everybody you know, and everybody they know. And just as it reaches the tipping point the rich start to leave, and pretty soon the economy is non-existent without the money they took with them. Pretty soon wages are getting cut, again and again, people start living together just to make ends meet.

You do get those benefits if you become full time, but trust me, you DON'T want to be at Best Buy 35+ hours out of your week. Literally the only perks are the employee discount and getting lots of hands on experience with new products, which may be useful if you want to pursue sales further. Otherwise, steer clear. Projects, shit that shows what you know. Stuff you do because you love doing it. Created a game/app/website for shits and giggles? put it there. Obviously if you're not passionate about programming than this isn't your field.

In the tech industry no one gives a fuck about your education in paper, they wanna see what you can do, they don't give a fuck about degrees.

the projects and assignments i have done aren't really spinnable, i think i would have to do my own mini projects. at least i could spin those into looking good as opposed to the shitty assignments i did

i was thinking of applying for jr sysadmin jobs though. i'm not sure if i have the mental energy for software development as a job. i just don't like the amount of "need experience" type of qualifications when i'm fairly certain i could learn how to do it in a week or less

>>46852329
Really easy. Basic high school subjects like science, math, and English. Some extras like electronic info, cars/auto, and general computers.
This is the academic portion called the ASVAB, there's also physical/medical reviews, potentially deep background checks.
>>
>>46852284
what you get on your asvab? im trying to become a nuke right now.

also did they actually call the people you listed as references?

85, I actually auto-qualified for Nuke.
My references were my closest friends, they said nobody called them. I think they only call them if they find something odd or they found an error in your information.

Put on a clean suit, ask to see the manager, give him a firm handshake and ask for a job.
>>
>>46852516
I first walked in the recruiting office in like July, officially enlisted in November.
I have no idea about the military's agenda. When you go meet other people trying to enlist, you see a lot of them are REALLY dull. I met people scoring mostly 35-60.
But one thing I can you for sure that the CTN rate in the Navy is severely undermanned.

Depending on the area this is like 50K in other places (not NYC). So, not that spectacular for a "real" job really. I always laugh when I see CA or NY people talking about salaries. Enjoy your COL.

You pretty much have to lie these days to get past the HR retards. I've learned that the people that should be doing the hiring are too busy doing their job, and the HR people have masters degrees from the University of Phoenix and a list of words they're looking for on your resume. What an awful system.

There is a difference between straight up lying on a resume and twisting words to present yourself in the best light
E.g
I work in a photo centre printing photos from phones, SD cards, CDs etc
We regularly have issues getting phones to connect properly and generally all it takes is reconnecting the device, resetting it or putting the phone in USB storage mode
On a resume I can spin that as
>Troubleshooting connectivity issues betwen iOS, Android, and Windows devices
>>
>>46852645
The best way to get into a place is to seek out recruitment during college, submit hundreds(I mean this literally) of applications, or straight up say fuck HR and beg a real person for the job. You'll look like a fag, but you'll also look like dedicated smart fag to the people you matter.

I did this a while ago. Applied for a student assistent position in some company. Didn't get a reply after 1 week (even though they told me), so on tuesday the week after I called them

>Hi, I would like to know the status of my application
>My colleague is in charge of that and she's not here right now, we will message you, okay?

Got an email 2 hours later that they hired someone else.

>go to infantry school, get kicked out because still 17(long story)
>have 4 optional mos that my unit can take, all dog shit
>be mechanic
>not actually fix anything
>get fucked with a lot because muh ADD/ possible autism.
>5 years later
>looking for job in the civilian world
>need experience to get experience
Regret everyday of it. High asvab was worth shit in the end.

The best thing is when you apply on LinkedIn and it'll show you the hiring managers. It's AMAZING even for some really savvy companies they have people with really no education in the field they're hiring in doing the hiring. When I say "HR people have masters degrees from the University of Phoenix" I see it all the time on LinkedIn. Some sort of business/HR shit from Phoenix/DeVry/etc. How do they expect these people to know what they're doing? That's how you end up with job postings that have "three years experience, entry-level."

Don't you get GI Bill? Or you didn't stay in long enough or something? That's retarded - if you're going to be in the military at least make sure you get the benefits. You could use the "mechanic" experience with any type of engineering degree. People really do love veterans usually when hiring.

Only in those shitty companies who needs a third world nigger as cheap outsourcing but then finds you and laughs behind you when you get the job.
>>
>>46852801
I actually had a problem with that in the beginning but yeah I am getting GI Bill(reserve version) which is not much. As for mechanic experience, I worked with diesel engines vehicles, not your typical gasoline ones, which is where you would start from in the civilian world if you are looking into that career path. So actual civilian diesel mechanics have considerable experience and don't think the training I have had is worth for shit, especially since I had rarely used it. I am trying to do CS anyway.

>>46852855

What about if I dropped out of high school so I could watch anime all day?
>>
>>46852744
I've found out through several family members that those requirements are not only bullshit, but don't matter worth shit.

One of my uncles was specifically given the job of going through applications, and the two other guys working there specifically chose applicants based off trivial bullshit. I've heard of people turned down because they said they liked soccer, and people interviewed because the employees felt lazy and picked applicants by rolling dice.

I'd imagine there are some good MOS fields in the military, that are worth something, if at least for prestige like Nuke. I was just young and dumb, topped of with shit luck.

I have an Associate's Degree of Technical Support, an Associate's Degree of Computer Networking, and college certificates in fiber optics, PC repair, and networking technologies. I graduated with a 4.0.

I've been working in the IT field for two years. I manage Active Directory systems.

I make $10.55 an hour. I look for new jobs every week and have not found one that pays more.

Do not go into IT.

how?

Every single help desk position I've been applying to are advertising 18-20 an hour or 30k-40k salaries.

Are you sure you're not just doing something wrong or live in a bad area for IT?

It must be the area. I'm near a major city and look on Craigslist, Glass Door, and Indeed weekly for new job postings. I cannot move out of the area because I take care of a sick family member.
