There's plenty of proof Chrome is a botnet. Do you know shit about browsers? It's also Spyware/Malware.

It installs Google Updater without your consent. Google Updater has no menu entries, or any sensible way to turn it off. Google Updater phones home even when NOTHING is updating.

As for Chrome it sends your URL keystrokes to Google even if you aren't searching Google and are just trying to fucking go to a website.

Even if you turn all the privacy options on in Chrome's settings packet capturing has still proved it phones home with suspicious data.

If you didn't know these you're probably in the "my first computer was a vista laptop in 2008" camp.

tl;dr : Chrome is a quick hack job with minimal features, a shitty extentions API that can't block ads, that compromises your privacy for data mining purposes.

Why do people use it you ask? Because Google promotes it vehemently and idiots download it. Do some research anons.

why don't you just use Chromium fucktard

I just don't like the fact that it's a gigantic battery hog on my laptop, compared to even Firefox.

Well, according to my research (and I've provided the same amount of evidence that you have), using Google Chrome actually cures 99% of all known human ailments.

Obviously it can't eradicate cancer, or else you wouldn't be here.
>>
>>46840637
It's actually up to you to prove that it ISN'T a botnet.
If it was open-source/free software, anyone could just look at the source, but since it isn't, we must assume it is a botnet.

OP pls post proof that this GOOGLE browser (a company that lives off of mining and selling your personal information) ISN'T a botnet.

That's a good start. Can't disprove anything if you don't give me anything to disprove.

OP all you need to do is read Google's privacy policies and all well be clearhttp://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/#infocollect

>>46840726

It's still a botnet.

Thats ridiculous everyone knows what chrome does.

>autocompletion in omnibar are searches sent to Google (turn off in settings, but it will suck then)
>asks you to log into google account for easier tracking

Thats basically it, if you turn off omnibar and dont log into a Google acc you are fine, even though it will suck then. Google has no reason to hide secret spyware, all people are using the obvious spyware voluntarily.

Chrome's not bad, but it's not that great either. Firefox has a much better extension system and it's more efficient with system resources.

The whole "botnet" notion is such a load of bullshit. The entire fucking internet is a botnet. Any illusion you may have of online privacy is just a myth. I block ads because they take up bandwidth and screen space, not because I care about being data-mined.

I use software that does what I need it to in a relatively efficient manner. I don't give a shit about "botnet" this or "free as in freedom" that. I know better than to install all the free toolbars that get shoved in my face whenever I install various programs, but that's because I have no use for them and they introduce unnecessary bloat.

I run both Windows and Linux. I browse the web with Pale Moon. I often use non-FOSS software, even though I happen to like a lot of FOSS programs as well. Got a problem with it?

Chrome also has a builtin DNS resolver which falls back to their own DNS servers on certain circumstances.
