>>
Rotring fags: does Rotring produce a fountain pen that looks simillar to the 800 series mechanical pencils? I really, really dig that look.
>>
>>46831588
This is my humble rotring collection and I love every single one of them. Except the 800. Fuck that piece of shit. It looks all nice but when you get to writing the mechanism feels wobbly and cheap as fuck. 600 all day long.
>>
>>46831632
Rotring doesn't produce FPs anymore.
The only ones were rotring 600/newtons back in the 90s.
They look like the capped lava/silver ones in the rotring pics. (Black one available too)
Prices will run high with about 250-350usd for a black/silver one and 400-500+ for a lava finish version.
>>
>>46831632
No :(. In fact, rotring has not produced fountain pens since the early 2000s. Feels bad cuz their design style is absolutely gorgeous. They recently brought back mechanical pencils so maybe fountain pens soon, I dunno. I would buy the fuck out of their fountain pens if they ever brought them back though. Rotring stuff lasts forever.
>>
>>46831681
Shame to hear that, for that kind of money I could get a Parker Duofold of something equally fancy.
>>
>>46831700
I'd keep an eye on eBay, occasionally they're on for much less, they don't stick around for long though so you'd have to be quick about it.

I have Lamy and Waterman fountain pens but I end up using this bic 4 color pen the most.
I love it for taking notes and studying.
I can write the formula in blue, add notes in green so that they don't confuse me while reading, black for diagrams/vectors or whatever, red for corrections of course.
Maybe if I had 4 fountain pens I could do the same, but dunno, maybe I'd look more like a retard than I already do.

Jinhao x450 is pretty good but too wet and broad for me. I used like a full converter's worth of ink in 2 days of note taking. Jinhao 599 makes a much finer line but is scratchy and I can't seem to fix the scratchiness with a whetstone like I did with the jinhao. Safari's still my top pen for overall usability.

Wooden pencils don't feel right in my hand. This specific mechanical pencil is the only one that doesn't either a) feel weird and b) have the lead break at the smallest touch.

I never liked pens since I need the ability to erase my mistakes, not scribble over them or use white-out.

One of the FP bloggers made a comparison, in which a FP was quite cheaper in the long run than a ballpoint, can't find it though

Skilcraft B3 Aviator brass in matte black. Refined industrial look. Takes a crane to break.
>>
>>46840719
what are the top two?
>>
>>46841021

Unfortunately I don't know about the top one. I know it's chinese, but it was a gift from a friend. It came with a nice box but all the writing on the insert cards were in chinese.

The brass one below it was listed in the invoice from when I bought it a couple years ago:

SH2652 Sheaffer Delta Grip fountain pen, ca. late 1980s. Most Delta Grips were ballpoints and beyond that most Delta Grips went to the ad specialty market for advertising purposes. Much nicer than your average cheap plastic advertising pens. These are all metal pens with satin gold finish with the typical molded plastic black clip and top piece. Fit with gold plated steel nibs marked Sheaffer Made in USA and M for Medium point. Designed for cartridges, but we find they accept the Sheaffer squeeze converters perfectly, so we're including one with each pen (retail value $15). The piston style converters do not however fit into these pens. Sheaffer Skrip cartridges also work fine. Pen measures 5 3/16 inches long and is cylindrical in shape with flat ends. These pens have never been used, they are new old stock that was recently acquired. You will note that there is a tiny hole near the top of the clip. No, the white dot is not missing, these pens never wore Sheaffer's white dot. They were designed for an advertising emblem to be attached at the top of the clip. Perfect pen with a small hole at the top of the clip. Available with a smooth medium point.

(I got mine for $30 but I wouldn't know where to find one now).
>>
>>46838226
The pen is an average ballpoint pen. The pencil is neat how the tip retracts, even while you write so you don't need to click it as much. The heftiness gives a good balance to both in your hand.

>>
>>46841945
...but the pressure is much less for gel and rollerball pens; it's far more comfortable if you're writing for more than a couple minutes
>>
>>46841945
provided you have a heavy style and use the same pen frequently this is likely to be the case but for most people bics are a nightmare where the ink is so gummed up behind the ball you gotta score a big circle in some scrap paper to revive it and push too hard to keep their penmanship from being useful.

After bics became popular the writing style and angle changed to more perpendicular and less flowing - not a coincidence.
>>
>>46836581
I got the method down eventually, with the nib from this plus a fine whetstone you can take the line and handling from scratchy, skipping ,wet and broad as fuck to smooth as hell , dry and extra fine and all places between.

Consider the x450 is about $3.50 delivered
