Not everyone is going to start editing videos on software worth a grand. You are describing like 3% of the computer user population.

cinelerra or kdenlive - foss, but pretty excellent linux video editors - will easily eat it up, especially if you use background rendering in cinelerra without having a render farm over network

Lol... at that much RAM chances are the Windows version itself might not support that much RAM.

Pretty sure Windows 7 Home Premium only supported up to 16GB... while professional was 64GB.
Not about the RAM limitations on Windows 8.

I can easily push past 8GB without trying. In fact, I recently upgraded my CPU, mobo and RAM but only got 8GB at the time rather than the 12GB like I had and I've found it restricting.
Got another 8GB arriving today with some luck.

I actually do need 12+

I have used it. I don't like windows either but i don't find it nearly as useless as osx. I prefer GNU/Linux (no, i don't prefer a particular distro but i do prefer Xfce)
>>
>>46833983
How the hell can you be a Linux user and find Windows more useful than OS X? OS X does pretty much everything Linux can besides catering to freetards, meanwhile Windows can boot and that's about it.
>>
>>46834018
I don't like the way OSX relies to much on the dock to launch apps. I prefer having a menu to find and launch apps to Apples iOS like menu which i find missplaced for a desktop OS. But i do like the fact that OSX uses bash
>>
>>46834053
It doesn't rely on the dock, use Spotlight

>open Terminal
Cmd+Space, T, return
>open Opera
Cmd+Space, O, return
etc.

You can use it to search for files and programs by content and metadata as well.
>>
>>46834082
That just seems slow to be honest. I can use keyboard shortcuts to launch programs in Linux too. And manually searching for apps also seems slower than just using a traditional menu
>>
>>46834112
It's much faster than using you cursor to open a program, especially since you don't need to pin every program you want quick access to to a specific place or anything
