Why do you guys care so much how he does it? It seems like everyone on here just wants to learn the magician's secret, so that his work can be undervalued and everyone can compress PNGs just like him. The point is that if we don't know how he does it, it makes it seem magical and great. There is so much mysticism in the technology world with softwares that people don't understand, but everyone just wants to shed light on it and ruin that.

I honestly think its a kind of communism-lite idea brought on by the free software movement. People who use only open-source software, they might not have malware or botnets to deal with, but they will never dream. they will never know the nostalgic feeling of discovering the ins and outs of how a program works, or finding a secret easter egg and keeping it to a limited group of friends and impressing everyone else with it. They think they are the masters of their software, but they are masters of a glass box with everything revealed, they don't understand exactly what the point of not understanding the software is.

You, OP, are a cool person and I hope you keep compressing PNGs and blowing people the fuck out .

Software having backdoors and shit is an entirely separate issue btw, but the point remains that when everyone understands how something is done, it devalues those who found out first, and that's honestly pretty sad. What's the point of doing anything special when it can just be copied from someone pressing a button? Do you really want a society like that?

You know what, youre right. Linux users have the source handed to them, that isn't hardcore, that's the epitome of a casual. They didn't have to figure out anything or do any reverse engineering themselves.

Not exactly. They used a lossy method (pngquant) to compress it, and I all I did was compress it again.

jesus that's a sexy looking laptop. why do so many laptops insist on being so ugly? i'm in the market for one right now and so many of them look faddish. i'm going to be using the damn thing for years on end and they insist on trying out weird styles and quirky ideas.

Fujitsu is the brand for you.
The t902 is legendary but the screen resolution isn't great.
The T935 is really good if you're into decent battery life, wacom digitizers, 1440p IGZO displays and thin metal uni-bodies.

Why isn't there a more efficient picture compression method in wide use right now?

There is Jpeg2000 for example. Why did these concepts of creating a better/more advanced version of JPEG all die?

Pretty sure pomf is going to go down soon. The dev's not taking in enough donations to keep it up and fags keep abusing of the service.
